Migration of European cranes

    So, this autumn migration of common cranes in Europe is running.

    I like this page to see the most actual counts from stagging and wintering places.

    I guess around 350.000 cranes are on the west european flyway now (Germany-France-Spain), at least 150.000 on the central european flyway (Hungary-Italy) and 100.000? on the eastern flyway (Krym-Turkey-Israel).

    Personally, I´m curious if south Bohemia will see again migrating flocks this year. Only if birds in Danube valley would encouter bad weather there, they would use our country as an alternative, I guess. So my fingers are crossed for a combination of eastern winds and rain/fog in Austria in next two weeks.
