A statement I found on the zoos website:

Pardon Our Dust - Jan. 25: In Primates of the World, the Colubus, Siamang and Mandrills are currently off exhibit due to renovation on the displays. We will keep you up to date on their return.

Whoever gets down to the zoo next, get some pictures!

Also of note, "Dinosaurs: A Jurassic Journey" will be the zoos special Summer display from May 26th to September 3rd.

When I was there this past week they had people in the exhibit working on it. At the time it looked like they have added more logs and was resembling the Siamangs exhibit.

Has anyone done the behind the scenes tour? The zoo ambassor was talking about March when they have the free behind the scenes tour. Wondering if anyone has done it before.

Yes I have. I’ve done the Hippo Home and underneath Big Cat Country. The latter was particularly enjoyable.

I have done it as well, at the reptile and aquatic building, and hoofstock.

It was alright. Much of the time was spent talking with a volunteer in public areas, but the times we went behind the scenes were cool, since I've never been behind the scenes at MCZ until that day.

As the weather begins to become warmer, the zoo begins to get ready for the summer season. The Colobus exbibit renovation continues. Elephant exhibit has stalled while work on otters continues to push towards a spring opening. The constant readjustment of animals in the small building seems to have continued. Paper went up around where the meerkat once was, anyone know what may be going on?

Is it only the colobus currently under renovation? Have they not started on the mandrills and siamangs?

As far as that empty exhibit goes, I doubt a new species will be added as that would go against a recent trend of the building, which is to allow current species to get more room.

The mandrills I believe already have access to an outside area last year as when I was there I saw them outside through their exhibit. The siamangs I believe already have access to outside as well, it’s just the colobus that don’t.

As for the small mammals, that’s what I was wondering but then again they didn’t have it papered off and they already had animals in that exhibit. Also, can anyone tell me why the two primates on either side of the small mammals building also have homes in the primates building too? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of going to an area to see the species if you can see them in another part? Especially since the exhibit space is much larger in the primates building then the small mammals.
