In Jhapa, eastern Nepal locals have set up a mini zoo - which are effectively community forest reserves.

In a recent incident several deer were killed by stray animals. The zoo was set up as a rescue facility in the Bansbari range.

The Haldibari Rural Municipality Chair Rabindra Lingden and colleagues have sought funds from authorities to set up an open range zoo. The community forest is 7000 ha and they hope to open it up as a tourist destination.

Not sure what to think of this, but it is news all the same!
