That's a good number! I have 325 but if I exclude homemades then the number is for sure smaller than yours :)
By my side, I never exclude a figure previously chosen for my collection but I substitute figures by better ones of the same species. That's why I ended with an orphan Safari arctic fox and CollectA mountain goat excluded from my collection :)

Still not sure I understand but okay. I was asking just removing some figures in general or like removing domestics or cetaceans or something like that, a specific group that you're not that interested in.

Well @Great Argus, what I was trying to explain before was by simply removing some figures in general to make room for either something new, or because, like you said, I no longer feel interested in having a certain group.

The Yowies hornbill have a greater quality than I expected (leg thickness aside), I may add it to my wishlist. It have a good size matching with, for example, Colorata raptors, Kaiyodo penguins, Safari California condor or Papo black-browed albatross? With the pink fairy armadillo I noticed you also improved the quality of your homemade models.

The ground hornbill is definitely one of the highest quality Yowie in my opinion, I was pleasantly surprised upon receiving it. The legs are a little thick but this is probably to counter the lack of a base.
For size reference, with Safari California Condor and Papo Black-browed Albatross.

I have indeed strived to improve, and generally have been quite a bit happier with both sculpts and paint jobs. There will be quite a few more homemade ones appearing sooner or later.

Thanks for the comparison, it's very useful and I think that the size of the hornbill is slightly excessive for my collecting tastes, and much bulkier than my homemade helmeted hornbill, but it would match nicely with Papo cormorant. In the comparison photo the sculpt quality of this hornbill is even more noticeable.

I have quite a large Schleich collection of wildlife species that I have been collecting over the years. I have them stored in my drawers since the collection itself does not fit in my buckets or containers anymore. I got a few new ones over Christmas and I plan to order a few new to my collection in the next month.

Here’s an overview picture of the collection! Also keep in mind this is just the Schleich brand specifically, I have many other figurines but I wanted to showcase specifically my Schleich figures because of the brands impact on my life as a younger kid.

    upload_2022-12-29_16-36-35.jpeg

I’ll break them down into groups doing a species catalog soon.

Quite a nice variety! I'm curious, what's that black and white bird thing in front of the chimps and vultures? It looks like some sort of stork?

Thank you! That’s a pterosaur of some sort, not quite sure what species. My apologies since my phone camera is not the best .

It would appear to be the mini Queztocoatlus.

No worries on the phone camera, many phones don't take the best pictures at a distance. The ones I posted upthread are phone photos, but taken 3-6 inches away.

I'll start composing a species list, starting with my African Species. This is the largest group of my Schleich collection, either that or the farm/domestic group, due to how I used to be huge into African mammal fauna (and still am).

    Birds
African Penguin S. demersus - 1 individual (one adult)
Common Ostrich S. camelus - 1 individual (one adult male)
Rüppell's Griffon Vulture G. rueppellii - 1 individual (one adult)

    Invertebrates
Emperor Scorpion P. imperator - 1 individual (one adult)
Unidentified Centipede Species - 1 individual (one adult)

    Mammals
African Bush Elephant L. africana - 4 individuals (three adults, all tusked, one calf)
Black Rhinoceros D. bicornis - 1 individual (one adult)
Blue Wildebeest C. taurinus - 1 individual (one adult)
Cheetah A. jubatus - 2 individuals (one adult, one cub)
Chimpanzee P. troglodytes - 3 individuals (two adults, one infant)
Common Warthog P. africanus - 2 individuals (one adult, one piglet)
East African Oryx O. beisa - 1 individual (one adult)
Hippopotamus H. amphibius - 3 individuals (three adults)
Leopard P. pardus - 2 individuals (one black adult variant, one regular-coated cub)
Lesser Kudu T. imberbis - 1 individual (one adult)
Lion P. leo - 7 individuals (four adult males, one lioness, two cubs)
Mandrill M. sphinx - 2 individuals attached to each other (one mother, one infant)
Meerkat S. suricatta - 4 individuals attached to each other (four meerkittens)
Okapi O. johnstoni - 1 individual (one adult)
Plains Zebra E. quagga - 4 individuals (three adults, one foal)
Reticulated Giraffe G. reticulata - 3 individuals (two adults, one calf)
Spotted Hyena C. crocuta - 1 individual (one adult)

    Reptiles
Black Mamba D. polylepis - 1 individual (one adult)
Nile Crocodile C. niloticus - 2 individuals (one adult, one hatchling)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Continuing on, next I will be doing Polar Species. This only includes animals from the polar regions of the world, temperate species like grizzlies and gray wolves do not qualify. Those will be in an American section.

    Birds
Atlantic Puffin F. arctica - 1 individual (one adult)
Emperor Penguin A. forsteri - 9 individuals, several babies attached to each other (four adults, five chicks)
King Penguin A.patagonicus - 1 individual (one adult)
Snowy Owl B. scandiacus - 1 individual (one adult)

    Mammals
Arctic Wolf C. lupus arctos - 1 individual (one adult)
Harbor Seal P. vitulina - 2 individuals (one adult, one pup)
Orca O. orca - 1 individual (one adult)
Pacific Walrus O. rosmarus divergens - 1 individual (one adult)
Polar Bear U. maritimus - 5 individuals (three adults, two cubs)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next is Asian & Wild European Species. These altogether are also pretty small but larger than the polar species collection.

    Birds
Indian Peafowl P. cristatus - 1 individual (one adult male)

    Mammals
Asian Elephant E. maximus - 4 individuals (two adults, two calves)
Bactrian Camel C. bactrianus - 1 individual (one adult)
European Badger M. meles - 1 individual (one adult)
Giant Panda A. melanoleuca - 3 individuals (two adults, one cub)
Greater One-horned Rhinoceros R. unicornis - 1 individual (one adult)
Red Squirrel S. vulgaris - 2 individuals (two adults)
Striped Skunk M. mephitis - 1 individual (one adult)
Sumatran Orangutan P. abelii - 3 individuals (two adults, one infant)
Tiger P. tigris - 3 individuals (one standard adult, one white-coated adult, one white-coated cub)

    Reptiles
Russian Tortoise T. horsfieldii - 1 individual (one adult)

    Overall...
    Total bird species: 8
    Total invertebrate species: 2
    Total mammal species: 31
    Total reptile species: 3
    Total individuals (so far): 93

So far, all I have left is the North and South American, Australian, and the Farm/Domestic groups left to cover.

Unless you customized them, what Schleich produced is Gyps fulvus, Oryx gazella and Tragelaphus strepsiceros instead G. rueppellii, O. beisa and T. imberbis

    Thanks for the correction @Kakapo.

Continuing on, next I'll be doing American Species. This includes wild species from both North and South America.

    Birds
Bald Eagle H. leucocephalus - 1 individual (one adult)
Chilean Flamingo P. chilensis - 1 individual (one adult)

    Mammals
American Beaver C. canadensis - 1 individual (one adult)
American Bison B. bison - 1 individual (one adult)
Gray Wolf C. lupus - 3 individuals (two adults, one cub)
Grizzly Bear U. arctos horribilis - 3 individuals (two male adults, one female adult)
Jaguar P. onca - 1 individual (one adult)
Raccoon P. lotor - 5 individuals (one adult, four babies attached to each other)
    White-tailed Deer O. virginianus - 1 individual (one buck)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up is the depressingly small group of Australian Species. I honestly should've just added this onto the Asian & European section just given how small it is. Anyway...

    Birds
Budgerigar M. undulatus - 2 individuals (two adults)

    Mammals
Koala P. cinereus - 2 individuals (adult and baby attached to each other)
Red Kangaroo M. Rufus - 4 individuals (two female adults, one joey per adult)

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, I present the Farm/Domesticated Species. I guess I'll note here that I did not include the budgies in here due to the depressing size of the Australian collection.

    Birds
Chicken G. gallus domesticus - 4 individuals (two roosters, two hens)
Domestic Duck A. platyrhyncos domesticus - 1 individual (one adult) - most likely American Pekin breed
Greylag Goose A. anser - 1 individual (one adult)
Mute Swan C. olor - 1 individual (one adult)

    Mammals
Cat F. catus - 4 individuals (one adult, three babies attached to each other) - European Shorthairs I believe
Dog C. lupus familiaris - 3 individuals (one adult, two puppies) - Adult French bulldog, baby German shepherd and baby golden retriever
Domestic Pig S. scrofa domesticus - 5 individuals (three adults, two piglets) - One adult is a Vietnamese pot-bellied, one baby is suspected to be Berkshire and the rest are Yorkshires
Domestic Rabbit O. cuniculus - 1 individual (one adult)
Donkey E. asinus - 6 individuals (three adults, three foals) - two adults and two foals are Provence donkeys, not sure about the other two which date back to 1988
Holstein B. taurus taurus - 2 individuals (one adult, one calf)
Horse E. callabus - 6 individuals (five adults, one foal) - One Friesian stallion, one Haflinger, one Haflinger foal, one Carmague, one Chestnut mare, one Knabstrupper mare
Nigerian Dwarf Goat C. aegagrus hircus - 2 individuals (one adult, one calf)
Sheep O. aries - 3 individuals (two adults, one calf)

    So… full recap.

    Total bird species: 15
    Total invertebrate species: 2
    Total mammal species: 49
    Total reptile species: 3

    Total species: 69
Total individuals: 157 - animals that are attached to each other are counted as separate individuals

    More to come soon..

    New Schleich additions 1/8/23:

Otter - Unbelievably cute. I didn’t really know what to expect size-wise, as schleich is usually diverse with their animal sizes, sometimes making animals purposefully bigger for the purpose of enjoyment, but I’m happy this one was closer on the realistic side.
    upload_2023-1-8_15-6-16.jpeg

Hippopotamus Infant - Very satisfied with this one and how the texture and model matches the adults perfectly.
    upload_2023-1-8_15-9-56.jpeg

Orca Infant - I was looking most forward to this one and the hippo. Much smaller than I expected, though I’m not complaining :D. Practically an exact replica of the adult version, though slightly rougher texture.
    upload_2023-1-8_15-7-3.jpeg

Red Panda - I’ve been meaning to get this one for a while. I love the size and texture, though I’m not the biggest fan of the tail.
    upload_2023-1-8_15-11-19.jpeg

Giant Tortoise - The hippopotamus is good, but texture-wise, this one takes the cake. I love everything about this one, the shell, the skin, and the size.
    upload_2023-1-8_15-12-10.jpeg

Stork - Lastly, I got the stork because I felt I needed to add more birds to my Schleich list regardless.

Finally gotten around to attempting to get caught up on new additions with 27 still sitting ready in the wings even after these ten. Which of course I've added to by making more figures in the last couple days that will need painted besides the handful that already still needed painted... Sculpting inspiration hit and went very well, now I wait for the painting mood to strike again. :p
Anyways, a mixed set of branded figures and custom ones this time. Hopefully the next set will get all of the aquatics sitting around taken care of...
