    Scimitar-horned oryx birth:

A Scimitar-horned oryx calf has been born.

With a further 14 Scimitar-horned oryx noted in the annual report as being born between the 2020-2021 period, it’s great to see this large herd continuing to grow - especially with zoos like Orana Wildlife Park phasing them out in recent months.

    Wild Africa Update:

A big year ahead for Monarto. The zoo have just released an update on Wild Africa and more general news today. The zoo have installed 6200 metres of fencing and 5400 steel cable holders and electric wire out-riggers, being the main barrier that will contain all the animals in Wild Africa. The roller doors have been added to their new rhino management and quarantine centre.

They have also announced that construction has commenced on their new hotel accommodation that will overlook Wild Africa. Additionally, the park have confirmed that the new visitor centre is just months from completion. They have planted a huge boab tree at the front of the park, representing a link between Africa and Australia: Log into Facebook | Facebook
