Again another zoo with no posts, we nned more info on this great zoo with its outstanding small mammal collection, cetaceans, walrus, saiga and the only long nosed echidna outside New Guinea.

Also found out they have recently imported a pair of Sichuan takin from Beijing zoo within the last month, so maybe not is all lost for this species in Europe:)

I am going to this zoo in October -- on Sunday, the 11th. If I remember, I'll post a review. (I'm terrifically excited about this, even though getting a Russian Visa is quite hard!)

Are you "Roman", the guy who posted these photos? I think it's funny to see this guy's (your) picture in the corner of each photo!

Does anyone know the up-to-date email address for the Moscow Zoo? I've tried contacting them many times with the address from their website. My emails either bounce back, or they're unanswered.

If anyone can help me, I'm putting together a database with statistics of some of the world's top zoos. Essentially, I need the annual attendance figure for the Moscow Zoo:

    Can anyone help me?

According to EARAZA directory edited 2008 attendance in 2006 was 3.000.000, but among them only 1.510.860 were paying visitors. It's looking strange that only half paid for visit to the zoo, but numerous groups have free admission: children under 18, pupils, students, soldiers, pensioners and so on.
    Hope it will be helpful.

It may seem odd to you ... Given the social economic make-up of the Muscovite people, you have quite a number of under-priviliged people abound. Well, in order to give them access to and be able to enjoy the zoo they do have concessionary rates.

Old news, but a female Sichuan takin was born at the zoo at the end of last year (2011) and 3 polar bears have been born.

Another baby takin was born about two weeks ago, but at Moscow Zoo Breeding Sanctury.

So much happening there: snow leopards, Sichuan takin ... much else I care not to mention to make my point.

    Any update(s) on Zoo Moszkva?
