There was an okapis exchange between Parco Zoo Falconara and Mulhouse.
Falconara sent male Azizi and on the other side Mulhouse sent male Dayo.

Dayo is the new breeding male in Falconara. Mulhouse is still home to two males.

Birth of a female spotted deer a few days ago :)
Alos some works in the park :
    - refurbishment of one of the white-cheeked gibbons enclosure,
    - destruction of the cranes raw due to future construction of "Horizon Afrique".

Also, a newspaper article indicated that with the new area the primates house will be enlarged. I don't understand what it means because, for the moment, we just know that two monkeys species will leave for new islands on the pond. So IMO it just means more space for the remaining monkeys but if there is a real enlargement of the house it would be better ! Will see in two/three years.

Others news : two females red panda will leave the zoo and a pair will replace them.

    Some recent news :
    - a male black and rufous sengi arrived from Leipzig in June. He will be off-show until the construction of the new african area,
    - a golden-handed tamarin was rescued by the french authorities from a private and given to the zoo. He is now living with a female cotton-top tamarin and all seems ok for them.

Two new recent births in Mulhouse with a grevy zebra foal (early november) and a sourhern cassowary chick. To my knowledge this is the second birth of a cassowary in France this year (with Montpellier Zoo)

    Very interesting move.

A lot happening with Vietnam pheasant as Zoo Praha is destined to send 6 birds to Zoo Taipei sometime this year. It is good to know the ex situ population in E Asian zoos is being expanded. In addition, Zoo Hanoi maintains a breeding flock in specially built pheasant aviaries. They had at least some 8-10 adults there (around ca. 2015/16 something). Not sure if more zoos in the region have Vietnam pheasant now.
