Can't be helped: another new thread on a neat little museum out in Coahuila state near to Monterrey.
The Museo del Desierto in Saltillo, Coahuila was established in 1999 primarily as a natural history collection with emphasis on paleontology. In 2005 it branched out into iconic species from Coahuila state, specifically the threatened and endangered ones. They hold a.o. Mexican wolf, prarie dogs (did not mention what species), black bear and bighorn sheep. In all 50 species and around 403 individuals (2016 data).

This site has only had Mexican wolves for 5 years starting as a holding facility for 0.7 in 2012. In 2016 they were recommended for a breeding pair of Lobo Mexicano and now - - they have had their first litter of 4 cubs.

Actually, the above feature gives a nice insight into the Mexican wolf recovery program and is a bit of a status update for Mexico. In August 2016 in total 52 (34 in USA and 18 in Mexico) collections participate in the conservation breeding program.

Notable collections in Mexico are the Cd Mexico collections of San Juan de Aragon and Los Coyotes, Africam Safari (Puebla), Zoo de Guadalajara (Jalisco), Leon (Guanajuato), Zacango (Estado de Mexico), El Tamatan (Cd. Victoria, Tamaupilas), El Zoochilpan (Chilpancinco, Guerrero) and La Pastora (Monterrey, Nuevo Leon).

In 2016 at least 30 cubs were born in Mexican zoos participating in this effort alone and that year the 3rd wild litter was born at the reintroduction site!
