My Dream Zoo (2nd version)

Kakadu
the Kakadu area is split into two different parts: Floodplain & Monsoon Forest. It is based off of the Top End region of northern NT.
Floodplain
First is a wetland walkthrough-aviary viewed from an elevated boardwalk over the water, the water's surface is covered in water-lillies & paperbark & pandanus are planted along the shoreline. The species include: Radjah Shelduck, geese (Green Pygmy- & Magpie), Comb-Crested Jacana, whistling-ducks (Plumed & Wandering), Black Bittern, Brolga, Black-Necked Stork, herons (Pied & Nankeen Night-), Royal Spoonbill, Australasian Darter, Glossy Ibis & Purple Swamphen. After this are several outdoor enclosures, an aviary for White-Bellied Sea-Eagle, an exhibit with Saltwater Crocodile, an open enclosure for Asian Water-Buffalo & a pair of exhibits with largest having a mix of turtles (Saw-Shelled & Eastern Long-Necked) & Freshwater Crocodile & the smaller has Merten's Water-Monitor & Northern Water-Dragon. Inside the nocturnal house are four similar tanks for snakes ranging in size for Arafura File-Snake, Keelback, Water Python & Macleay's Water-Snake, then is a tank with Pig-Nosed Turtle & Speckled Longfin-Eel & finally is an enormous freshwater tank for a mix of Freshwater Sawfish, Barramundi, Freshwater Whipray & Gulf Saratoga.
Monsoon Forest
The nocturnal house continues into this section of the Kakadu area with a tank for Magnificent Tree-Frog, an exhibit with Black-Footed Tree-Rat & Black Flying-Fox, then are two invertebrate tanks, a bigger one for Green Tree-Ant & the smaller semi-aquatic one has Giant Water-Spider. Outside the nocturnal house is an aviary for Rufous Owl & then is a walkthrough-aviary based on the monsoon forest habitat of Northern Australia, which has Red-Winged Parrot, Rainbow Pitta, Pheasant Coucal, Rufous Whistler, finches (Crimson & Masked), Yellow-Rumped Mannikin, Shining Flycatcher, Red-Necked Avocet, Purple-Crowned Fairywren, Eastern Koel, Orange-Footed Scrubfowl, Bar-Breasted Honeyeater, Yellow Oriole, Banded Fruit-Dove, White-Browed Crake & Little Kingfisher.

Bush
the Bush area is split into two parts: Bushwalk & QLD Gulf Country. It is based on the bushland/woodland habitats found all over Australia.
Bushwalk
First is the Bushwalk Aviary, an enormous walkthrough-aviary which is home to parrots (Regent & Blue-Winged), Eastern Spinebill, lorikeets (Rainbow, Scaly-Breasted & Little), Apostlebird, cockatoos (Glossy Black- & Sulphur-Crested), rosellas (Eastern & Pale-Headed), Long-Billed Corella, Silvereye, Forest Kingfisher, honeyeaters (Yellow-Tufted, White-Eared, Regent, Blue-Faced & Scarlet), White-Browed Woodswallow, Diamond Firetail, Bush Stone-Curlew, Superb Lyrebird, Common Bronzewing, Noisy Friarbird, Superb Fairywren, Australian Brush-Turkey, doves (Peaceful & Brown Cuckoo-), Welcome Swallow, Painted Button-Quail, Spangled Drongo, Olive-Backed Oriole, Channel-Billed Cuckoo, Black-Faced Cuckoo-Shrike, Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallaby, Bell Miner, Mistletoebird & White-Throated Treecreeper. Next are a row of aviaries for Laughing Kookaburra & Australian Magpie, Black Kite & Australian Hobby, a mix of owls (Barking & Masked) & the last has Powerful Owl. There's an enclosure for Dingo, a macropod walkthrough-exhibit has Eastern Grey-Kangaroo & wallabies (Swamp & Red-Necked) & last are a few standard enclosures for Koala.
QLD Gulf Country
There's an aviary which has Black-Throated Finch, Squatter Pigeon, Golden-Shouldered Parrot, Pictorella Mannikin, Great Bowerbird, Black-Chinned Honeyeater (golden-backed form), Masked Woodswallow & Australian Ringneck (cloncurry form). After this is when the nocturnal house starts, first is a tank for Speckled Brown-Snake, then two nocturnal exhibits, one for Plains Rat & the other for Kowari.
Nocturnal House
the nocturnal house continues from QLD Gulf Country & into the main nocturnal house. First are four nocturnal enclosures which have Northern Brown-Bandicoot & Greater Glider, a mix of gliders (Yellow-Bellied & Feathertail), Sugar Glider & Tawny Frogmouth & the last for Common Ringtail-Possum & Squirrel Glider. Four reptile/amphibian tanks ranging in size have Green Tree-Frog, Giant Burrowing-Frog, Thick-Tailed Gecko & Golden-Tailed Gecko, then the transition from nocturnal to diurnal are eleven invertebrate exhibits varying in habitat & size/shape with one species each for spiders (Red-Headed Mouse-, Sydney Funnelweb-, Redback, Saint Andrew's Cross & Net-Casting), Golden Huntsman, Giant Centipede, Red Triangle-Slug, Rhinoceros Beetle, Golden-Brown Assassin-Bug & Meat Ant, a vertical one has a mix of stick-insects (Spiny & Goliath). There are two snake tanks, one for a mix of Yellow-Faced Whip-Snake & Brown Tree-Snake (banded & normal morphs) & the other a sandstone habitat which has Broad-Headed Snake, there's a tank for Burton's Legless-Lizard, a large exhibit based on abandoned barn with Lace Monitor. The last tank is skinks (Common Blue-Tongue & Yakka) & Eastern Bearded-Dragon.
River Systems
the River Systems area is split into two parts, similar to the Kakadu area, these parts are Riverine Forest & Billabong with the nocturnal house connecting each part.
Riverine Forest
it is based off the riverine forest habitat bordering the waterways of Australia, first is a walkthrough-aviary with a pond on one side. The species are: Striped Honeyeater, finches (Plum-Headed & Double-Barred), Chestnut-Breasted Mannikin, Cotton Pygmy-Goose, Australasian Grebe, Azure Kingfisher, Australian Reed-Warbler, fairywrens (Variegated & Red-Backed), Black-Fronted Dotterel, Striated Pardalote, Red-Backed Button-Quail, Banded Stilt. Next are the two conservation aviaries for a mix of Plains-Wanderer & Eastern Ground-Parrot & the other has Eastern Bristlebird. Going into the nocturnal house, there's three reptile tanks, a swampy one for Red-Bellied Black-Snake, a rocky one has dragons (Red-Barred & Tawny) & a the last for Pygmy Blue-Tongue Skink. Then there is a nocturnal semi-aquatic enclosure which has Australian Water-Rat.
Billabong
it is based off temperate waterways of Australia, the nocturnal house continues into this part of the River Systems area, there's a nocturnal exhibit for Platypus, a small tank has Bullrout, then two similar tanks which have Queensland Lungfish & Australian Bass & the other for Short-Finned Eel, Murray Cod & Eel-Tailed Catfish, there are two paludariums, a larger one has Green-and-Golden Bell-Frog, Spotted Blue-Eye, Purple-Spotted Gudgeon & Eastern Water-Skink & other for Eastern Dwarf Tree-Frog, the final part of the nocturnal house are three aquatic invertebrate exhibits which have Giant Water-Bug, a mix of Green Diving-Beetle & Water Scorpion & then the last has Tiger Leech. Outside is an enclosure with Eastern Water-Dragon, turtles (Broad-Shelled, Irwin's Snapping- & Murray River-). Last is an aviary viewed from an elevated boardwalk, it is home for: ducks (Musk, Blue-Billed, Pink-Eared, Freckled, Australian Wood- & Pacific Black-), Australian Shelduck, Black-Tailed Native-Hen, Yellow-Billed Spoonbill, Black Swan, Chestnut Teal, White-Faced Heron, Little Black Cormorant & Australasian Shoveler.

Africa
the Africa area is split into five parts: Cape Peninsula, Serengeti Savanna, West African Forest, Sahara Desert & Great Rift Valley.
The Cape
the The Cape part is split into two sections: Cape Fynbos & Namib Desert.
Cape Fynbos
the Cape Fynbos section is based on the fynbos heathland/scrubland habitat of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. First is an exhibit with Caracal, a kopje-themed enclosure for Klipspringer & Rock Hyrax & finally an exhibit based on Boulders Beach in Cape Town which has African Penguin.
Namib Desert
the Namib Desert section is based on the Namib Desert of southern Africa There's two similar enclosures with rocky piles & burrows/tunnels for Meerkat & Cape Porcupine & the other has Bat-Eared Fox & Aardvark. There's also two similar larger exhibits for a mix of Springbok & Sable Antelope & then the other which has African Wild-Dog.
Serengeti Savanna
the Serengeti Savanna part is based on the Serengeti region. First is an enclosure for African Lion, then there are two similar savanna paddock exhibits which have White Rhinoceros, Common Ostrich & Common Waterbuck & a mix of Plains Zebra, Giraffe & Nyala, there's another two similar enclosures which have Cheetah & Spotted Hyena. There are Helmeted Guineafowl free-ranging throughout this area.
West African Forest
the West African Forest part is split into three sections: Congo Basin, Upper Guinean Forest & Madagascar.
Congo Basin
the Congo Basin section is based on the Congo Basin of central Africa. There's two exhibits with climbing structures, the smaller one for Black-and-White Colobus-Monkey & Mandrill & the larger with a moat has Western Lowland-Gorilla & fish (Mbu Puffer-Fish & Six-Banded Distichodus) in the moat, lastly in this area is a paddock with dense foliage & a pond for Okapi & Shoebill Stork.
Upper Guinean Forest
the Upper Guinean Forest section is based on the Upper Guinean Forest of west Africa. There's a more open paddock with Bongo Antelope & Red River-Hog, a semi-aquatic enclosure with climbing structures for Pygmy Hippopotamus, Egyptian Goose, cichlids (Electric Yellow- & Peacock), catfish (Upside-Down & Cuckoo) & De Brazza's Monkey. Last is another semi-aquatic exhibit with African Dwarf-Crocodile.
Madagascar
the Madagascar section is based on the island of Madagascar off of east Africa. The main enclosure is for Black-and-White Ruffed-Lemur & adult Radiated Tortoise & the other is a small aviary which has Red Fody, Vasa Parrot, Grey-Headed Lovebird & young Radiated Tortoise.
Sahara Desert
the Sahara Desert part is based on the Sahara Desert of north Africa. There's an enclosure with rocky piles & burrows for Fennec Fox, an aviary with Secretary-Bird & White-Backed Vulture & a paddock for Dama Gazelle & Gemsbok.
Great Rift Valley
the Great Rift Valley part is split into two sections: Rift Valleys & Ethiopian Highlands.
Rift Valleys
the Rift Valleys section is based on the Great Rift Valley lowlands of east Africa. First is an aviary with Saddle-Billed Stork & Southern Ground-Hornbill, a paddock for Grevy's Zebra, Grey Crowned-Crane & Gerenuk & last is an exhibit which has Grivet.
Ethiopian Highlands
the Ethiopian Highlands section is based on the Ethiopian Highlands mountain range of Ethiopia. There's an enclosure for Serval & then a rocky sloped exhibit with Hamadryas Baboon & Barbary Sheep.

 

There are a few unaccuracies in the descriptive.
The Gemsbok doesn't live in Sahara but only in Southern Africa. The much more threatened Scimitar-horned Oryx would be better.
The Barbary Sheep doesn't live in Ethiopia, Nubian Ibex would fit more to an Ethiopian-themed enclosure.

 

Scimitar-Horned Oryx was my second choice for this exhibit & this species would be easier to acquire seeing as my dream zoo is located in Australia & there aren't any Gemsbok in the country.
& about choosing Barbary Sheep, I chose them due to them being common in Australia whereas Nubian Ibex aren't in the country & that the Barbary sheep are also commonly kept with the baboons.

 

Can't you just write out how exhibits look etc and how things are located within the park instead of just writing species after species after species.

 

This mix is likely to be problematic, zebras being the offenders towards the other two.

 

Asia
the Asia area is split into two parts: South-East Asian Rainforest & Himalayas Hike.
South-East Asian Rainforest
the South-East Asian Rainforest part is split into two sections: Malay Peninsula & Indonesia.
Malay Peninsula
the Malay Peninsula section is based on the Malay Peninsula of mainland South-East Asia. First is an enclosure with a moat & pond for Malayan Tapir, Ruddy Shelduck & fish (Giant Gourami & Clown Knife-Fish) in the moat, then four exhibits with climbing structures for Sun Bear, Binturong & two similar ones which have Flat-Headed Cat & Clouded Leopard, last is a netted enclosure for Dusky Leaf-Monkey & Silver Pheasant.
Indonesia
the Indonesia section is based on the country of Indonesia & several other island countries in South-East Asia. There's an exhibit with climbing structures for Northern White-Cheeked Gibbon & Sumatran Orangutan, one which has Sumatran Tiger, two similar ones for Babirusa & Celebes Crested-Macaque, a small paddock with a mix of Visayan Spotted-Deer & Sarus Crane, a pond for False Gharial & Painted Terrapin. There are free-ranging Red Junglefowl throughout the whole South-East Asian Rainforest part.
Himalayas Hike
the Himalayas Hike part is split into three sections: Valleys, Forests & Mountains. It is based off the Indian subcontinent & the habitats seen going up the Himalayas.
Valleys
the Valleys section is based on the valley, savanna & wetland habitats found at the base of the Himalayas. There's two paddocks, the larger has Asian Elephant & the smaller is for Indian Rhinoceros, an enclosure with Fishing Cat, an exhibit for Dhole & a pond which has Gharial, Giant Snakehead & Iridescent Shark.
Forests
the Forests section is based on the pine, broadleaf & bamboo forests found on the Himalayas. There's three enclosures each with climbing structures, the first has Red Panda & Koi in the moat, the others have Raccoon Dog, & Lion-Tailed Macaque. Then is an exhibit for Asian Golden-Cat.
Mountains
the Mountains section is based on the mountains, slopes & rocky ridges found high up the Himalayas. First are two similar rocky enclosures, the first has Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Monal & Chamois & the other has Snow Leopard, there's an exhibit based on the Jigokudani Valley in Japan for Indian Hog-Deer & Japanese Macaque & last a smaller rocky enclosure which has Pallas's Cat. Throughout the whole Himalayas Hike part there are free-ranging Indian Peafowl.

 

I have chosen to switch a few species.

Sahara Desert
1. Scimitar-Horned Oryx replace Gemsbok in the former gemsbok+gazelle exhibit
Great Rift Valley
1. Gemsbok are now mixed with Grevy's Zebra in the former zebra+crowned-crane+gerenuk exhibit (the Gemsbok are replacing the East African Oryx native to the Great Rift Valley).
2. There's now an extra exhibit for the Grey Crowned-Crane & Gerenuk who've been moved from the former zebra+crowned-crane+gerenuk exhibit.

 

I don't understand the place of Chamois in an Asian exhibit. They should easily be removed, as there's another caprine species (the Tahr) in the enclosure.

The choice of Raccoon Dogs and Lion-tailed Macaques, while not without interest, is dubious for an Himalayan exhibit.
And both species would never meet together in the wild.

The Racoon Dog & Lion-Tailed Macaque aren't mixed with each other as it says a sentence before "there's three enclosures each with climbing structures"

Life at Night
the Life at Night area is the zoos only true nocturnal house & is split into three sections: Temperate Forest, Tropical Rainforest & Acacia Woodland.
Temperate Forest
the Temperate Forest section is based on the temperate forest habitat & mainly has species found in Eurasia. There are five exhibits, a small one for European Hedgehog, one based on New Zealand with a mix of North Island Brown-Kiwi & Little Owl, two similar ones for Stoat & European Badger & last is a Japanese river tank which has Japanese Giant-Salamander.
Tropical Rainforest
the Tropical Rainforest section is based on the tropical rainforest habitat found along the equator. First are three similar enclosures ranging in size for Asian Palm-Civet, Sunda Slow-Loris & a mix of Three-Striped Night-Monkey & Nine-Banded Armadillo. Lastly there is a small tank with Cane Toad.
Acacia Woodland
the Acacia Woodland section is based on the acacia woodland & savanna habitat found throughout Africa. There's only two exhibits both which are similar for Common Genet & a mix of Senegal Bushbaby & Springhare.

 

The Amazon
the The Amazon area is based on the Amazon Basin of South America. It is split into four sections: River, Jungle, Cerrado & Andean Mountains.
River
the River section is based on the Amazon River & other aquatic habitats of the Amazon Basin.
Indoor
the The Amazon area starts by splitting off from the main Atlas Aquarium. First is a large tropical community tank which has Black Ghost Knife-Fish, Mystery Snail, Peppermint Pleco, tetras (Emperor, Rummy-Nose, Neon & Glowlight), Marbled Hatchetfish, Bronze Corydoras, Silver Dollar & Pink-Tail Chalceus, there are two similar tanks for Electric Eel & Red-Bellied Piranha, but the main attraction of indoor River section is the Amazon Giants tank with a mix of catfish (Red-Tailed & Suckermouth), Silver Arowana, Arapaima, Pacu, Peacock Bass, Xingu River-Ray & West Indian Manatee. After this is a semi-aquatic enclosure for Spectacled Caiman, a small tank has Amazon Leaf-Fish, Bristlenose Pleco & Royal Whiptail, last are two similar tanks, the bigger one is for a mix of Discus, Cardinal Tetra, German Blue-Ram & Freshwater Angelfish & the smaller one has Oscar & Green Terror.
Outdoor
outside the indoor part of River is paddock with a pond for Patagonian Mara, Capybara, Red-Legged Seriema & Southern Screamer & the other, larger & also with a pond has Jaguar.
Jungle
the Jungle section is based on the Amazon Rainforest/Jungle in the Amazon Basin. There are two similar enclosed exhibits for a mix of Pygmy Marmoset & Golden Lion-Tamarin & the other has Emperor Tamarin, the largest enclosure in the Jungle section has climbing structures & is for a mix of Geoffroy's Spider-Monkey & White-Faced Saki. Last in this section are two similar exhibits with climbing structures for a mix of Red-Rumped Agouti & Black-Capped Squirrel-Monkey & the other with Ocelot.
Cerrado
the Cerrado section is based on the Cerrado habitat of central South America. First are three enclosures with two species each, a paddock for Maned Wolf & Giant Anteater, an aviary which has macaws (Military & Hyacinth) & the last which has climbing structures for Collared Peccary & South American Coatimundi.
Andean Mountains
the Andean Mountains section is based on the Andes mountain range in western South America. There are four exhibits, an aviary has Andean Condor, a small one for Long-Tailed Chinchilla, a large rocky one with climbing structures for Mountain Lion & a more open one for Guanaco & Llama.

 

Herds
the Herds area is based on the open grassland-type habitats of the world (other than those in Africa).
American Prairie
the American Prairie section is based on the Great Plains of the USA & is home to: American Bison & American Elk.
Mongolian Steppe
the Mongolian Steppe section is based on the Gobi Desert of Mongolia & is home to: Przewalski's Horss, Dromedary Camel & Domestic Yak.
Indian Savanna
the Indian Savanna section is based on the savanna habitats of India & is home to: Blackbuck, Chital Deer & Nilgai.

 

Wings of the World
the Wings of the World area is split into six sections: Birds of the Tropics, Tropical Walkthrough-Aviary, Birds of the Northern Hemisphere, Birds of Africa, Butterfly House & Flamingo Lagoon.
Birds of the Tropics
the Birds of the Tropics features birds found along or near the equator. There are two walkthrough-aviaries, one for bigger birds & the other for smaller birds. The large birds aviary is home to: pheasants (Lady Amherst's & Kalij), Luzon Bleeding-Heart Dove, cockatoos (Salmon-Crested & Citron-Crested), Black-Capped Lory, macaws (Blue-and-Yellow & Scarlet), amazon-parrots (Blue-Fronted & Yellow-Headed), Rose-Ringed Parakeet, Ring-Tailed Lemur & Sun Conure. The small birds aviary has: Silver-Eared Media, ground-doves (White-Breasted & Ruddy), lories (Red & Dusky), Red-Shouldered Macaw, Green-Cheeked Conure, Black-Capped Caique, Pacific Parrotlet, White-Rumped Shama, Red-Throated Parrot-Finch, Tricoloured Munia, Java Sparrow, Crested Wood-Partridge, Golden Pheasant, Cuban Grassquit & Blue-Crowned Hanging-Parrot.
Tropical Walkthrough-Aviary
the Tropical Walkthrough-Aviary features a mix of tropical animals in a walkthrough-aviary similar to that of Fragile Forest at Singapore Zoo. There is a path that winds down towards the bottom of the aviary where there is a pond. Several of the species are taken out of free-range at certain times of the day or allowed out to free-range the aviary while being monitored by a keeper. The species list is: Northern Palm-Squirrel, Goodfellow's Tree-Kangaroo, Cotton-Top Tamarin, Kirk's Dik-Dik, pigeons (Victoria Crowned- & Nicobar), Bali Mynah, Raggiana Bird-of-Paradise, Grey-Winged Trumpeter, Scarlet Ibis, Roseate Spoonbill, Red-Footed Tortoise, Red-Crowned Parakeet, Mandarin Duck, New Zealand Scaup, Paradise Shelduck, Great Argus, Grey-Headed Flying-Fox, Green Iguana, Hoffmann's Two-Toed Sloth & Common Tree-Shrew. In the aviary are several exhibits ranging in size for the species which are taken out of free-range at certain times of the day & an aviary for Toco Toucan.
Birds of the Northern Hemisphere
the Birds of the Northern Hemisphere is a walkthrough-aviary which features birds from the Northern Hemisphere, there is path which winds around a pond in the centre. The aviary is home to: California Quail, Northern Bobwhite, Common Pheasant, Spotted Turtle-Dove, Common Blackbird, Nutmeg Mannikin, European Goldfinch, American Wood-Duck, Northern Mallard, Red-Crested Cardinal, Red-Whiskered Bulbul, Blue-Winged Parakeet, Common Chaffinch, Oriental Magpie-Robin, Ruff, finches (Red Pileated- & Purple), Red-Billed Leiothrix, Song Thrush & Plain-Backed Sparrow. There's also an aviary which has a mix of Rook & Greater Roadrunner.
Birds of Africa
the Birds of Africa is an aviary which features the birds of Africa. The species are: doves (Namaqua, Barbary & Laughing Turtle-), Chukar Partridge, parrots (African Grey-, Meyer's & Senegal), Yellow-Collared Lovebird, waxbills (Common & Lavender), Cut-Throat Finch, Red-Cheeked Cordon-Bleu, Pin-Tailed Whydah, bishops (Southern Red- & Yellow-Crowned), Fan-Tailed Widowbird, Sudan Golden-Sparrow & Violet Turaco.
Butterfly House
the Butterfly House exhibits most of the zoo's invertebrates. First is a walkthrough-aviary for butterflies including Australian Lurcher, butterflies (Monarch & Ulysses), Cairns Birdwing, Common Bluebottle, Common Crow, Common Eggfly, Meadow Argus, Scarlet Jezebel, swallowtails (Orchard & Red-Bodied) & Hercules Moth. After the butterfly walkthrough-aviary is a room with six invertebrate exhibits, including Mexican Red-Knee Tarantula, Emperor Scorpion, Orchid Mantis, Madagascar Hissing-Cockroach, Hercules beetle & European Honeybee.
Flamingo Lagoon
the Flamingo Lagoon exhibits most of the zoos waterfowl & free-ranging birds. The only exhibit is a lagoon for Greater Flamingo. Apart from this exhibit is a lake where there are free-ranging birds, these are: Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Green Peafowl & Wild Turkey.

 

The knifefish will eat most of the listed tank mates.

Why not Bactrian Camel here?

Ring-tailed Lemur with large parrots is likely to result in injuries.

Yeah this just doesn't work, it sounds good on paper but it won't actually work like that. Besides the mix likely being somewhat problematic.

Red-crested Cardinal does not natively occur in the Northern Hemisphere.

 

This community tank is meant to be for them at a smaller size not for fully grown or large individuals of any species.
I chose Dromedary instead of Bactrian due to the Dromedary's being rather common in Australia.
Currumbin WS keeps Ring-Tailed Lemur with a number of other birds in their Lost Valley aviary including macaws, conures, pheasants, lories etc.
I was going for something similar to the Fragile Forest @ Singapore Zoo
I chose the Red-Crested Cardinal to represent Northern Cardinal since they aren't in Australia.

 

What does the zoo look like? What do the exhibits look like? Fantasy threads are not supposed to just be lists of species, per the rules.

 

Even young Black Ghost Knifefish will still be quite capable of eating the tiny tetras you list. Their mouths are bigger than they look.
