Re the size of Gorilla genitalia. At least two important founder females of the current zoo population were initially sexed as males. 1/ Achilla at Basel, first female gorilla to breeding Europe and first to rear her own young in captivity anywhere. Her second infant was the famous Jambo who became Jersey's breeding male. 2/ One of the two females Jambo joined at Jersey was Npongo, originally sexed as a male. Npongo's daughter Kahili is currently rearing her son Indigo. While Jambo and Achilla are no longer with us, they leave many descendants.

The Mysuru Zoo was already well established as a breeding facility for Indian gaur. The intention is also to integrate wild captured individuals for the ex situ program. On the side: it was mentioned the zoo will also look to expand into lion-tailed macaque breeding and looking for founders from the wild.
