I agree completely. Every zoo I have been to, even the best ones, have something outdated that needs to be demolished. But off the top of my head, I cannot think of one really bad exhibit at Nashville.

It should be noted though that Nashville is one of the newest zoos in the USA. (At least at the present site) (I wonder if any is newer?)
Its a very cool set up.They normally have been putting them out in a threesome and a twosome on several occasions all 5 cubs have been out together.As far as the Lynx they had two on exhibit and the one near the back of its enclosure appeared much more white than the other in the front of it. And how do you know this? Nashville will not immediately build a lion enclosure just to house lion cubs that are ready to move on. More likely, the cubs will be dispersed on their own to different zoos for the SSP program.
Its great to see plans being talked about for this wonderful zoo.Although the zoo is fairly new they have not had a major project in quite some time.If alot of things fall into place for Nashville,Does anyone believe that this could be along the lines of a Congo Gorilla Forest or Lied Jungle type project.In other words a type of project that alot of zoo chatters are skeptical to ever be done again.Thoughts? Yes, I do, and Nashville could be the home of the cubs. However, I'm just pointing out this is highly unlikely and what will probably happen to your cubs.
I do not think so. When I was there three weeks ago I had lunch (and a brief education center tour) with their docent supervisor. He talked about an african expansion being next, but it sounded like outdoor hoofstock and lion exhibits. However, given the calibre of everthing at Nashville so far (on of the most consistent zoos and in my top 5), I am sure it will be good.
There are three factors behind our thought process on this possibly being a big time project. A. Nashville Zoo's is known for its incredible exhibit quality. B. A highly motivated president who seems to think big. C. We view Nashville as a growing city where big time money could become available to the zoo. No doubt that C. is crucial to all of this but its certainly possible. Team Tapir
Hopefully Docent the next trend in Zoo design is the revival of hoofstock. Especially since zoos could do mini attractions like a small jungle river cruise/jeep tour as an extra fundraiser and incorporate hoofstock into those.
If anyone were to build a $130million hoofstock exhibit (with or without lions) it would be unique (to say the least). Folks, this is the most expensive and ambitious zoo project to be discussed in over a decad (at leat judging from the info in the article). I think you can expect something bigger. (The article does specifically refer to gorillas, hippos, rhinos as well)
