After a two hectares enclosure for angolan lions in 2018, a white-tailed sea eagles aviary and a sand cats exhibit in 2019, the zoo is building a 4.000 square meters enclosure for european lynxs (new specie for the park).

It won't be a new exhibit. According to a sign on the enclosure the NA river otters have already left the zoo and their enclosure will be remodeled for the Europeans..

Would be interesting to learn where the N.A. river otters were transferred to.

I personally favour North American zoos to work with N.A. river otters and European zoos with the Eurasian species. There might even be a direct conservation and reintroduction benefit involved!

Some recent news from Mervent :
    - a white-nosed coati escaped in march and is still living in a forest near the zoo,
    - the african spurred tortoises have been transfered to another enclosure larger and more grassy than the previous one,
    - two european otters arrived from Czech Republic to form a new breeding pair.

So the press release is there : the zoo welcome Fruta, a 12 years old female born in El Acebuche, and K5, her 8 years old son. Fruta has 21 cubs who 16 were reintroduced into the wild.

It will take some times before the lynxes will be on view.

@Arizona Docent They started to go outside but are really shy. I saw somewhere that a lucky woman took some pics (not good but a proof they go outside).

The lucky woman is a friend of mine :) For now she seems to be the only visitor to have photographed a lynx outside. The trap is open everyday, but they're still very shy. She waited 4 hours to have a glimpse (15 minutes with the female outside).
