They're both females apparently (the new and old) and is this mangabey rumour legit? Apenheul themselves haven't said anything on their site or Facebook page.

Apenheul has mentioned it in their annual report (about the mangabeys) at least that they will come.

Idem ditto for the arrival of the female patas from stichting AAP last year.

They are also currently rebuilding the night monkey/sloth enclosure.

Also, I wonder where they're going to get them from? There are only 16 zoos that have them...also, do we know if it's going to be a mixed gender group, or a bachelor group? Munich and Dublin both have bachelor groups, whilst the 14 other zoos in Europe have mixed.

I also think that them living with gorillas will work. If Allwetterzoo can do it then Apenheul definitely can!

Dublin also keep their (4 males) Collared Mangabeys with their Gorillas. It also seems a successful mix.

As to what they will get, depends what is available really. There are usually extra males in a species like this one which need removing from natal groups so maybe Apenheul will also set up a male group- unless they specifically want to breed them.

Collated mangabeys have arrived at the zoo! They are living on the old proboscis monkey island, and from the photo it is at least two :)

I believe it wasn't mentioned here but a few days after the first Javan langur was born, a second one was born as well. The group now consists of 6 individuals (1.3.2).

In a local newspaper it is said they are receiving a crowned lemur in May.

Apparently the female crowned lemur is already there (behind the scenes) and waiting for a male. They will be living with the ruffed, ring-tailed and red-bellied lemurs in the walkthrough.

And the collared mangabey group apparently consists of a male and three females.

Do you have any knowledge as to which Zoos the animals forming this new group came from?

Thanks. Rather strange as Colchester did have 2.5 recently but three of those females were newly aquired only last year. Maybe they could not integrate them into their 'main' group(2.2) so they have been transferred again?

The crowned lemurs are officially in the lemur walkthrough! This means there's now eight species of lemur in Apenheul, and a breeding group, two batchelor groups, a family and a pair of lemurs in the walkthrough.
