    Birth-news from Apenheul :
    - 6 Ring-tailed lemurs
    - 1 Crowned lemur - a first-breeding for Apenheul
    - 1 Red-bellied lemur

    @john, please .... you know full well these things take time. Do not be so impatient and let the animals sort it for themselves. First indications are good and the older females being integrated with him are well .... quite "experienced". You will really have to let it rest for another few months before we can say for sure it is working out well.

    Aside, the zoo management nor animal husbandry staff would ever have dreamt of taking him in if they had no confidence in the final outcome. Another benefit is that the EEP is gaining new participants overseas.

    @Kifaru Bwana Of course, one problem for continued participation would be that they now have no gorillas! Maybe one day a bachelor group might make its way out there.

    Yesterday a Hanuman langur was born, sex still unknown :).

    At an age of 52 Apenheuls oldest orang utan - female Silvia - died :( .

    Last 2 White-nosed coatis have died ( at an age of at least 15 year ). There are no plans to replace the coatis by new ones.

    Last weekend a Red titi was born at Apenheul :).

    This weekend the 4 males were put on the plain and flown to Al Ain.

    Orang utan-female Sandy gave birth to a male-baby but the young lived only for a few days :(.

    The baby caught pneumonia unfortunately :(
