    Hey guys

    New guy here from New Zealand pretty excited to have found this site. Im a zookeeper from a small and young zoo here in New Zealand and just stumbled upon this site earlier today. Pretty stoked as I feel like alot can be learned here.

    Butterfly Creek up in Auckland ... small park ... Vary out of date enclosure design but we are steadily improving

    We keep
    - a range of butterflies
    - general petting zoo and farm animals ( arapawa sheep and kune kune pigs being the 'stand out' breeds)
    - rainbow lorikeets
    - cotton top tamarins
    - american alligators
    - estuarine crocodiles
    - rose tarantula and zebra legged tarantula
    - wetapunga
    - leopard gecko
    - bluetongue
    - water dragon
    - inland bearded dragon
    - tammar wallaby
    - bourkes parakeets
    - turquoisine parrots
    - eclectus
    - african grey
    - blue and gold macaw
    - sulphur crested cockatoo
    - himalayan monal pheasant

    A few others I probably missed off the top of my head ... We are getting kiwi and tuatara early next year at some pount with the completion of our kiwi house.

    I just read on another thread that you keep cotton top tamarins and kea, which sounds like a very interesting Zoo animal combination.

    Definetly no kea here .... Dont think the tamarins would apprecieate them lol

    I just read that the kea got moved to Staglands Wildlife Reserve.

    They probably got us mixed up with rainbow springs ... We've never had room or resources for kea here.

    Also just read that you keep saltwater crocodiles and American alligators. Is it true that the saltwater crocodiles you keep are the only ones in NZ?

    When we first got the salties we were not the only ones in NZ keeping them but now we are.

    Its a tiny zoo so we've split all our animals into 2 sections and I'm lucky enough to work with all of them.
