A new national zoo has (planned for) to be built outside Kathmandu that will showcase animal species in spacious exhibits resembling the natural habitats they come from. The site chosen is Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur.

QUOTE: ".... based on a proposal and feasibility study report submitted by the Ministry of Forests and Environment. Four years have passed since, however, authorities concerned are yet to draft a detailed project report of the project". UNQOUTE

At the last count in 2019 - as you can all see - it was reported that a budget had yet to be allocated by the relevant ministries in Nepal. The project seems to have stalled for now ..., alas. But given it is noteworthy I thought it is important to set up a new thread anyways.

A further news article from the Himalayan in 2020 underlines the need for a new zoo. The Chiranjibi Pokharel, Central Zoo manager explains why a new zoo facility is urgently needed.

I doubt they'll actually build a new zoo. But hey! let's just keep our fingers crossed.
