- The New York Aquarium will reopen on saturday after more than 6 months of being closed as a result of hurricane sandy. The aquarium will have a much lower price as they only have half of the aquarium open. The exhibits that are open are the above ground viewing for "Sea Cliffs", Aquatheater with a new sea lion show, Glovers Reef and the Conservation Hall. The cafe, main aquarium building, jellyfish exhibit and shark tank are all closed and separated by a newly constructed wall. The aim of the aquarium is to be fully rebuilt by 2016. The shark tank will reopen in 2014 with the previously planned new shark building coming one year later than expected in 2016. Cannot wait to visit in June/ July.
Shame about the aquarium not being able to fully reopen until 2016... Unfortunately, I doubt we won't get more storms like Sandy in the future so I'm not sure if the aquarium will be able to survive until 2016... ~Thylo
