A male zebra named Carlo who was born here in December 2007 to Itika (currant female) and Aucklands older male named Monty. He was moved to Keystone in 2008 and 2 weeks ago has moved back to Auckland zoo to replace Our male Machanno who has gone to Keystone. Eventuly Itika and Unyazi will leave and we will get some new females to breed with Carlo. p.s - The last male zebra born at Auckland was Unyazi in 2010 abut the last female zebra was born in 1992 and that was Shilo who died earlier this year I will upload a pic of Carlo in to the Gallery.
Hi Jay yes I do Bakari and Carlo left the zoo in 2008 and moved to Keystone Wildlife Conservancy and he still lives there to day and now lives with a male named Machano (from Auckland)

A new female Zebra is currently in quarantine after arriving from Werribee recently. Called Shamwari, she should be on show in a few weeks time Source: Auckland's Facebook

Hi guys, Just an update on this...Shamwari has been removed from the enclosure due to Carlo being a bit of an a$$ to her. I'm not sure if she has been put back in, but I'm hoping to find out this weekend.
I was there n the 25th of jan and she was in there with carlo and itika. Also unyazi is in qaourinteen and is leaving for taronga shortly
Oh wonderful! I'm glad they were able to re-re introduce her. It was quite frustrating to watch Carlo with her.
Yes it would have been but renember when Itika and Unyazi use to pick on him he probaly thinks that now he has power and hes not the new guy any more hope its all fixed now thoe
Just visited Auckland and have something to report Shamwari has been removed ageain and Unyazi is still in with Itika and brother Carlo Unayzi is being a little mean to Carlo and he also tried to kick Kiraka naughty boy he reminds me of Bakary when he use to think he owened the padock. Hopefuly they can resolve what happening and they canput shamwari abck in i sont no why Unyazi is abck out as I my self saw him in qaourinteen and he was spose to be leaving so yeath something has gone wrong there.
