    I meant she is a nitwit in zoological circles. I have no qualms it is one of those individuals with no clue / concept of what zoo management or good quality scientific zoo work entails / requires.

    If Dr. Spitsin quits … - no surprise given the circumstances - all hell will break out.

    Then you are more hopefull than me. Local conservation I believe can be pushed for and will/can be successfull. On CITES I m not sure. I have little faith in the current political elite.

    Btw since Soviet times people of Armenian origin are operating several travelling menageries in Russia (which are part of Russian State Circus) - and they keep CITES species such as Amur tigers, leopards, lions, large birds of prey. Keeping them in wagons for a lifetime is legal for a non-zoo institution in our damn country.
