My apologies if I've missed something obvious, but is there a set of Frequently Asked Questions for ZooChat? As a newcomer, I find myself wondering about a lot of things: What's a "well-known" member? How long does a new post remain editable? What are usage rights on uploaded photos? I don't want to just clog up this forum with questions, so if there's someplace I can look up how things work, I'd certainly like to use it. Thanks!
A well-known member is just that, a member that posts a lot and is therefore a famous member of the community. A new post remains editable for about a few hours after you post it. Usage rights are complicated, you're gonna wanna ask @Simon Hampel
There is no FAQ, but there should be. I suppose this subforum is the closest thing? A post is editable for exactly 1 hour after it is posted.
Seconded. a ZooChat FAQ thread would be a great resource. Now let's get @TeaLovingDave to type one out... Never knew that, we live and learn!
There is a forum help area which answers many of the general questions about how the forum software works - Help | ZooChat (link is in the bottom right of every page) The software has a "ladder" of pre-defined user titles, which changes based on the number of posts you have made. Currently we have this set to the following minimum post values: 0 = New Member 5 = Member 25 = Active Member 45 = Well-Known Member The whole thing is rather meaningless, and one day I'll get around to changing it to something more interesting. There is a related function in the forum called "Trophies" which rewards a user when they achieve some pre-defined level or action and so on (such as "posts a certain number of posts, receives a certain number of likes, adds something to their profile, etc). These can be customised - I might revisit this as part of the upcoming site upgrade because some of our members might find it fun (although in reality it means very little). Given that you only need 45 posts to become "Well-Known", I'm not sure that "famous" is quite the right word Only if you are a regular member. Premium members get longer editing rights. The users who upload the photos (who are presumably the same people who took the photo) retain copyright over them - unless it wasn't their photo to start with!! You will need to contact the uploader to request permission to use their photo outside of this site. If you want to include someone else's photo in a post you make on ZooChat, go for it - just make sure you attribute the original uploader (perhaps link back to the original media gallery entry). That is exactly what the Help and Feedback forum is for - to answer your questions. 45 actually
In the new version may I recommend this?: 0 posts: African Pygmy Goat 10 posts: Black-Tailed Prairie Dog 50 posts: Giraffe 100 posts: Okapi 500 posts: Pangolin 1,000 posts: Saiga 10,000 posts: Ivory-Billed Woodpecker Just kidding. Although something similar would be kind of cool...
