You refer to the Fasano / Fasanolandia park? Then: your male African is Yzik from Poznan. (due to go to Wien earlier, deal fell through ….)
Dear Piko, I stand corrected: the new elephant female at Pombia is named Baby. What zoo or where she came from ...., I really do not know. Link: Homepage Pombia Safari Park. I really would not mind knowing how old she really is and what her background is ....? Why did they send off the young pubescent bull Yzik to Fasano? (obviously no outlook for any breeding management?)
Safari Park: - Births: two Amur Tigers - New arrivals: two Rothschild's Giraffes and an African Elephant - New area: Sea Lions (I don't know if this is a new area, but I noticed it now)
As far as I know Pombia did have hybrid giraffes up till now (from various sources). Any info on sex/age of incoming 2 giraffe?
They are two young giraffes born the 5th November 2015, they are called Mazamba and Makwetu The young elephant is called Baby I don't know where they come from
I just came across this news item: Apparently, the Safari de Pombia received 1.1 Somali wild ass in October 2019! This also suggests the safari park has been accepted as a participant by EAZA in one of their EEP's! The male named Mudug (8) ex Safari de Peaugres and a female Uraria (2) ex Chemnitz Zoo. Also: on 10/11/2019 in Arca di Noe a program on Somali Wild Ass was screened on Tele 5. Source: https;//www.safaripark.it/due-nuovi-ospitti.
On my Rhinos in Europe Website I've listed: Males: Arnold (*~1971, born wild) Martin (*1990, born at Hodenhagen) Females: Valeria (*~1971, born wild) Mana (*1996, born at Hodenhagen) I'm not sure if Arnold and Valeria are still alive.
1.0 Southern Screamer was sent by zoo Ostrava in November to Pombia. He hatched on 11th June 2023 , is parent-reared and the egg he hatched from was donated by zoo Olomouc because Ostrava´s breeding pair lays only infertile eggs for 10 years. source
