2.1 White Nosed Coati have arrived from Zoo Parc Beauval. 1.1 will remain at Boissiere whilst the second male will go to NaturZoo Mervent at a later date. Once this transfer has been carried out a second female will arrive at Boissiere

During November 2015 - the zoos group of 5 hybrid Bengal Tigers (parents and three offspring) were moved on to Terra Natura in Spain. Now in there place will be a (future) breeding pair of Sumatran Tigers. The first half of this pair is planned to arrive very shortly

The zoo is building a new two hectares enclosure for a troupe of angolan lions. Visitors will see them in a walkthrougt tunnel which will cross the enclosure. The exhibit will be behind the two african plains. The zoo will stop in the future the presentation of the asian lions when the present individuals will have died. In the future the asian lion enclosure will enlarge the sumatran tigers exhibit. THe same case for the present brown bears exhibit. The bears will received a new enclosure of more than two hectares in 2021, next to the new lions' land.

The zoo released a video taken with a drone. After 20 secondes, you can glimpse the new african lions enclosure (it's the enclosure at the bottom, under construction).

The Zoo has reopened on May 13th and the new 2 hectares south west african lions enclosure is already finished. There are 1.2 lions in. The new enclosure is accessible with a new walkway in the second african plain.

Some news from a friend's visit last tuesday :
    - pair of cape barren gooses and crowned pigeons (don't know the species) are now in the rainbow lorikeets aviary,
    - two pairs of eclectus parrots, blue-winged kookaburras and galahs are now in the yellow-footed rock wallabies and emus aviary,
    - there are at least 5 or 6 rock wallabies including two youngs,
    - maguari storcks are now off show (they were previously in the squirrel monkeys aviary),
    - small clawed otters are now only with the binturongs, no longer with the orangutans,
    - births for sloths, binturongs, gelada baboons, zebras ans pelicans.

    - the Cape Barren geese arrived last year ;)
    - I've seen 7 yellow-footed rock wallabies last thursday, including 2 youngs. That's logical, as each adult female had a young last year and one this year. So 3 adults + 2 youngs each year : 7 now :)
    - I've seen small clawed-otters with the orang-utans in february
    - babies of the year (and end of 2019) : 1 gelada, 1 sloth, 1 zebra, several pelicans, 3 brahminy kites, 2 binturongs yes. I'll ad 2 scimitar oryxes and at least 3 canadian wolves :) Seen and photographed

    The new lions are :
    - Deema (M, 2018 Plzen)
    - Katani (F, 2015 CERZA)
    - Taya (F, 2019 CERZA)
In fact the sisters are west african lionesses, but Deema is a Barbary lion. The zoo didn't get the young male of west african lineage it wanted from Antwerp (I got the info from a zookeeper)

Really, West African lions, the rarest and most depleted African lion population on the Continent?

    It seems yes
The director told me that "african" lions around Europe got genetic tests and some are of west african lineage. Maybe not 100% pure (same as Barbary lions), but they belong to that lineage. As of today, 3 French zoos have such lions : Sigean, CERZA and la Boissière du Doré

Interesting, I would love to see some science papers on that genetic testing as well.
Wild West African lions probably Benin and Cameroon if I am wildly correct by memory (sorry am on the road while replying).

Interesting indeed. I visited today and the Lions were signed as W-African, so I was already wondering...

The Maguari Storks can still be seen from the lemur walkthrough in the first backstage aviary.

According to a sign, a whopping 21 Pink-backed Pelicans were born this year...
