To start off a new thread, (at least) 0.0.3 Northern Cheetah have been born to the group at La Palmyre
A long awaited first breeding for La Palmyre in the form of a female White Rhino calf who was born on 8th November. Mother is 30 year old, Noelle who was previously thought to be none reproductive Première naissance d'un rhinocéros au Zoo de La Palmyre
This is a sibling breeding as both male Christian and Noelle are closely related (early Hilvarenbeek-line) and share the same sire. Amazing though that - in the face of conventional wisdom - a 30+ primiparous is actually breeding first time! Perhaps she was a flatliner before with no cycle?

Hopefully this species isn't as doomed as we all thought, let's hope the new studbook holder can make some succesful pairings!
They would have to bring new blood in - I think the majority of animals in Europe are either siblings, half-siblings or cousins.
