Can start with news of an arrival: A female Amur Tiger has come to Nurnberg from Moscow this month to eventually form a new breeding pair. A male is expected to be sourced within the next 12 months for her

1.0 Yellow Backed Duiker has arrived during December. He joins the lone female that Wuppertal have kept since 2004

Another arrival during November was male Amur Tiger, Samur from Wuppertal (B06/2012)

The last spectacled bear, the female"La Bamba"has passed away January 2. She has lived at the Zoo since 1981 and was the oldest of her species in europe.

I think, the Zoo will not start again with them; not in the present enclosure.

On May 5th a pair of 7 year old female Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins named Donna and Dolly were transferred from Duisburg to Nurnberg.

Nurnberg now houses ten Atlantic Bottlenose's, 7 captive bred and 3 wild caught.

Bottlenose dolphin"Sunny"is pregnant with her second calf-the first was born in 2007 and died a few days after the birth. It will be the first to be born in the Dolphin lagoon.

Dolphin calf got the name"Nami"(japanese for"Wave"); she started to meet the other group members and is doing very well.

Unfortuntely, the zoo lost the female yellow backed duiker; so only the male left. This species doesn't have a bright future in europe...

A great shame, this - I do hope the male survives until my visit in April!

If not-you have two more chances to see them-one male is at Krefeld Zoo, a female in the okapi exhibit, and another non-breeding pair close to the elepahnt house at Wuppertal Zoo.Better to send them back to the Usa, to give all of them a chance to reprocuce.

The article states that she will be part of an exchange and an indian rhino female will go from GB to Nurnberg, so that should limit the options..
