That was probably Fitzgerald, he moved to Montgomery earlier this year and was replaced by George from Buffalo as the new breeding bull. If you could share the video here that would be great, I would love to see him!

I'm guessing you found this from worldrhino.com, this information is a bit dated since it's based off of the 2019 international studbook that was publically released earlier this year. And given the large crash that they hold I'm very certain more births, deaths, and transfers have happened since then. Nevertheless, thank you for posting this here as I never got around to doing so.

Your welcome! I actually started this project before you told me about worldrhino.com but it helped me to finish all the missing pieces of information I was missing.

Thanks but she's already listed in my first post on the thread. I would suggest double checking the thread before posting these kind of things, as I or others have already listed the vast majority of the GOHR in NA. I'm pretty sure the only facility I am currently missing is Shamba Safari, all I know is that they hold a single male but when I contacted them for more information on him they never responded to me and just left me on read. One of the other moderators on worldrhino.com has listed his name as Curly on the site but I could find no evidence (on their social medias) that that is his name. Even if that is his name, it's anyone's guess where he comes from since there are no known males in the population with that name so either he was born at Rum Creek or White Oak and his birth was never announced or his name was changed.

Also, since there have been a number of deaths, births, transfers, and new known individuals I will be updating the thread with a full population list fairly soon.

Asha from Toronto will likely be on the move to Rum Creek for breeding probably by spring. They already have the crate set up to train her in but its starting to get too cold up here to think they might move her before spring. Sadly it puts and end permanently to breeding for Toronto. Vishnu and Kiran will stay on for now but the species is on the phase out list at the zoo much to the whole TZ forums utter disappointment.

Why is Toronto phasing out Indian Rhinos? Is Toronto now considered too cold for them? They were doing so well with Nandu and Kiran! Now with both Gaurs and soon-to-be rhinos gone, what will they do with the Indian Rhino Pavillion? It's such a nice building. Will they convert it to bring back Gaur???? PLEASE!!!!!
Lastly, why does Rum Creek need more Indians??? They have more than any facility in the US except for perhaps White Oak.

Yeah, it’s disappointing that they are phasing out the species. They have done a great job breeding the species with Nikki, Sanjay, Sanya, Nandu, and Kiran. Also Rum Creek definitely has more individuals than White Oak currently.

Rum Creek should offer tours. What are they doing with that area of TZ? Its like nearly 2 acres in size. Are they moving the rhinos to another section of the zoo?

Your guess is as good as every single one of the Toronto Zoochat group. Its not too cold they are outside most winter days and love it. The barn is undersized but to keep them invest in them. They are a worthwhile species for the zoo to do that. They are the first animal you encounter at the zoo when you head to the left. It is faster to get to them then heading to see the kids zoo if you go to the right and few people care about the kids zoo. We are phasing out our Indian Rhinos, our river hippos, most of our small primates... we are sad sad zoo goers.

Nandu would stay at Safari Niagara I assume until hes breeding age which honestly is approaching. Kiran could swap over to Safari Niagara if Nandu headed south. Vishnu will likely go to the US at some point in the future as he is still a valuable breeding bull. Weirdly they have paired Asha with a male that Vishnu is actually more valuable then her new mate. Go figure.

We have no idea what the future holds for the rhino area. There is a new master plan that has been due out for a year now based on their original estimate... soooo.... Yeah stay tuned. The TZ forum will explode when it drops.

Who is Asha's intended mate at Rum Creek, do you know his name? My guess is Bhramputra as he was born in India and despite having sired a number of calves should still be quite valuable for the population. But there are a couple other bulls at Rum Creek that could also be paired up with her.

This is extremely unfortunate and I fear the news because TZ's exhibit is my favorite for Indians! I'm so glad I filmed a lot during my 2017 visit. What is the timeline for the rhinos to leave? I'd like to see them, especially Vishnu one more time.

You said "we are phasing out our Indian Rhinos". Does the "we" imply you work there? I miss TZ and wish I was closer so I could see it again. I loved the Indo-Malaya Pavilion as well. I wonder what the old Orangutan exhibit will be converted into. Also, thank goodness that show Zoo Diaries existed. It has footage of Patrick, Indira, and their offspring. I wish it was stil lavailible to watch online, it was previously available on Gaia TV (circa 2012). My favorite episode is the one where Patrick goes crazy and tries to climb over the wall to get to Indira.
