Thanks for the list! This must've been pretty hard to make considering tree-kangaroos aren't the most popular animals and zoos don't usually post much info about them.
Spike was sent to another zoo a year or two ago, and was replaced by another male Bek (not sure where he came from) though I do know he was born around early 2018. The park also recieved a new female named Arona from Miami a couple months back, I'm guessing she's the unnamed joey you have listed under Miami.

There are 4 other zoos in the US for which I could find an online reference to them keeping tree kangaroos in 2019 or 2020: DWA, Riverbanks, Gladys Porter, and Detroit. The first three of those four additionally still list tree kangaroo on their websites.

It was a little difficult, but not horrible. Thanks for letting me know about Spike!

Thanks! I'll have to look into it.

Bek was born at and came from the Lincoln Children's Zoo.

Spike moved to the Riverbanks Zoo but tragically passed away sometime after he moved there.

Som's father at Lincoln Children's Zoo is Bexley (who also happens to be Bek's father, but he had a different mother named Milla who I think may also still be there.)

I remember the Detroit zoo used to have them in their collection. What ever happened to them?

If they don’t have them now then that means Kagan got rid of them for no reason.

Completed in March 2022, the Tree Kangaroos of Papua New Guinea SAFE Program Three-year Action Plan was recently publicly released via the SSP's social media page. It provides lots of interesting information. The first tree-kangaroos arrived in North America around 1927 and in 1982 Woodland Park Zoo (and North America) received their last import of Matschie's directly from Papua New Guinea.

At the time of writing, the Matschie's population was at 38 (18.19.1) tree roos in North American facilities which does not include the recent joeys at Bronx and Santa Fe. Comparatively, the documents states that there are approximately 54 (31.23.0) Goodfellow’s across 27 institutions based on ZIMS data in Europe, Australia, and Asia. Australian zoos house about half of these with about 22 individuals currently.

The tree kangaroo SSP was initially established in 1991 and was a yellow SSP up until 2017 until it dropped to a red SSP due to several deaths. With more focussed breeding they are hoping to upgrade back to yellow soon. The eventual goal is to have a Matschie’s GSMP and develop an umbrella GSMP that includes both Goodfellow’s and Matschie’s programs as a collaborative global management plan for tree kangaroos. They also hope to work with Port Morseby Nature Park (who have 3.1 Matschie's according to the document) to source new founders.

0.1 Som was transferred from Lincoln Children’s Zoo to San Diego Zoo Safari Park recently. I believe this is a temporary move as the park’s breeding male, Bek, appears to be her half-brother.

I had it marked down that she was eventually supposed to go to Riverbanks, so I also wonder if this is temporary?

Toronto will be shipping female Puzzle to Brookfield within the next week or so ending the zoos long history with the species.
