That is the SSP's recommendation at this time.

Nico and Meta remain the dominant bloodline in Australasia to this day. 33 of the 41 tigers in our current population are their direct descendants. It’s interesting to know through Kali so many of North America’s population descend from them too.

I thought people might be interested to see a list of tigers within the Australasian population I’ve identified as eligible for export (aged two to six years and not paired/recommended to be paired):

    1.0 Scout (08/02/2016) Juma x Kaitlyn
    1.0 Pemanah (17/01/2019) Clarence x Kartika
    0.1 Mawar (17/01/2019) Clarence x Kartika
    0.1 Tengah Malam (17/01/2019) Clarence x Kartika
    1.0 Nelson (03/06/2019) Ranu x Kaitlyn
    1.0 Malcolm (18/02/2020) Ranu x Kaitlyn
    0.1 Sallie (18/02/2020) Ranu x Kaitlyn
    0.1 Sage (18/02/2020) Ranu x Kaitlyn

While these tigers are direct descendants of Nico and Meta, Kaitlyn (mother of Clarence) is from Indonesia and born to wild born parents - which makes these eight tigers genetically valuable. For context, Clarence was paired with Kartika at Taronga Zoo (great great grandaughter of Nico and Meta) as an example of what was considered a suitable match.

Keepers at Disney's Animal Kingdom are telling guests that there is a male tiger at the park. I didn't ask for specifics because I already knew, but the Cast Member says Disney generally doesn't like to give details because of potential for unwanted media attention. They are also explaining that Anala is no longer at the park (To explain how Sohni's behavior has changed as the sole tiger on exhibit, very interesting).

That would most likely be Conrad from Kansas City.

@Jambo Yes, I figured that was the case considering KC said he was going to Central Florida plus DAK had just relocated Anala

From the Los Angeles Zoo Animal Transaction report:

Male Kuasa will move from Dallas Zoo to Landry's Downtown Aquarium in the near future. Kuasa was born at LA and they retain ownership of him. Hence why the transfer was mentioned

Topeka Zoo did a Facebook Live update on the Tigers earlier today..

A new (unidentified) male is going to Louisville shortly as a mate for Jingga.

Badar and Bintang are now moving to separate zoos rather than together as previously planned. They, and Sanjiv are expected to have left Topeka by Christmas. Zayana's export is also on target to happen by the end of 2022

A new 1.1 pair will arrive at Topeka as soon as practically possible, once the above transfers have happened.

It will actually be Kuasa's son, Rudi, who will be transferred to Landry's and another young male will be joining him there as well.

    Topeka update:

Bintang has now left for Kansas City Zoo. Badar and Sanjiv are also scheduled to leave (for separate zoos) very soon

The new Topeka pair will arrive in January:

The zoo that has reproduced the most critically endangered Sumatran tigers over the last ten years is about to be tigerless. This week, the Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center transfers its two remaining resident Sumatran Tigers to other zoos, leaving an empty habitat behind. That is, at least for a little while.

Though we sure will miss our striped friends, the habitat won't stay empty for long. A new pair of tigers will join the Topeka Zoo family very soon, and if all goes according to plan, we can expect to welcome a new set of cubs in the coming years.

This week, Sanjiv and Badar will leave for their new zoos, completing the first phase of a process that was started more than a month ago when tiger Zayana was sent to the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand. Last week, Bintang made his way to his new home up the road at the Kansas City Zoo. More information regarding Sanjiv and Badar’s destinations will be released after standard quarantine periods are complete. In the meantime, that means there will be no Sumatran tigers available for guests to see until 2023.

“We’re proud to have been chosen to anchor this new breeding effort and look forward to where this process takes us,” says Brendan Wiley, Zoo Director. “While we know it can be disappointing not to see a tiger while visiting, we are taking this opportunity to encourage guests to think about our impact on our environment and why Sumatran tigers are threatened with extinction. Soon, we will have more information to share about the new tigers joining the Topeka Zoo. ”

I think the second male they mention (at DDA) is probably Luhahn from Wildlife Safari. He's a similar age to Rudi and would be a good companion for him

It appears that Bandar has left the Point Defiance Zoo, as only Kali & Indah are listed on the website: ps://www.pdza.org/animals/asian-forest-sanctuary/tiger/

So I guess this means that Point Defiance isn't breeding their tigers for the time being?

Point Defiance may or may not be receiving a tiger from *somewhere* very soon ;)

He was initially recommended to breed with Kali so I’m unsure as to why he’d be transferred after just a few years.
