Very sad news. I suppose in practical terms this doesn't make a difference to the Northern White's (very slim) survival chances as Nesari wasn't a potential breeding animal but a great shame nonetheless.

Very sad... This leaves Europe without any Northern White Rhinos, and I fear that it's just a matter of time before the same is true for the whole world.
Sad news indeed. Thanks for posting the article though - quite a bit of information on attempts to further the line.
If only they can get as far as creating Northern embryos, there are plenty of Southern White females around that could potentially act as 'host mothers' In that respect its fortunate there is another so closely related species available. But on the other hand, time must surely be running out for the last existing Northerns now.
