This is true! Manatee Henriette gave birth in beginning of January. Unfortunately the calf was dead at birth and Odense Zoo concluded at autopsy that it probably died due to brain damage.

The people familiar to Odense Zoo will also notice they have a new logo which they started to use this week. No official presentation of the logo or why they changed.

Female South American tapir (Tapirus terrestris) Donna has recently been send to a zoo in Austria. Does someone know to which zoo in Austria she was send? According to Zootierliste, Odense no longer holds South American tapirs, is this true?

She moved to Schmiding Zoo where she will live with a male.

For now, this means goodbye to tapirs in Odense.

Yeah, there were some cohousing problems with the capybaras apparently. Admittedly, the exhibit was also a bit small for tapirs by today's standards, being located inside an aviary.

Two golden-headed lion tamarins has been born at Odense Zoo.
This is the first time the zoo has had success breeding this species.

Odense zoo had a very unexpected birth of a California sealion. This was the first pup for the mother (maggie). Unfortunately the pup drowned within the first 24 hours.

Recently an alpaca was born, this is already the third alpaca to be born this year.

Earlier this week the first Antarctic gentoo penguin (Pygoscelis papua ellsworthi) of the year hatched!

In July the Red-legged seriemas (Cariama cristata) had a young, but the parents fed their newborn with ibis chicks. Therefore the seriemas were removed from the aviary...

At the beginning of June the first Western sitatunga (Tragelaphus spekii gratus) of the year was born.

On the 28th of May female lion Nunu gave birth to a triplet. A month later another lion gave birth to 2 lions.

Another domestic reindeer was born on the 22nd of May.

At the end of April male Reticulated giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata) Kiango left the zoo, one month later a female named Ayanna arrived at the zoo. Not sure where Kiango went and Ayanna came from, they probably talk about in the video but I don't speak Danish...

Odense zoo found a solution for their seriema couple after they had to move out of the South America aviary.
The Zoo build a new exhibit in the old Coati exhibit. Nothing official has been released yet so we do not know if they will share the space or live alone.

The zoo mentioned on its instagram that they have a pair of Trumpeter hornbills (Bycanistes bucinator). According to ZTL they only had 1 male in July so I persume that a female arrived recently.
