    Good news, lets hope this one survives. The EEP has had a few in the UK at least not survive this year.

    I know, am just talking about the two in the UK that DNS. Two in such a small population is not good.

    2 did not survive? I know the female calf in London died, but the one in Marwell is healthy, isn`t she?!

    Sorry may have got myself muddled up. Marwell thought they had a second calf but it turned out she wasn't pregnant. Sorry.

    If you were refering to Antwerp: this zoo was the first zoo in the world with okapis (1919). So all the other zoos are 'another breeding locations' :D

    Btw: here's an interesting link: http://www.theokapi.org/welcome.asp

    We can only presume that as I don't think anything has actually been posted to confirm it(?) but it does seem to be what happened.

    So all the okapi's are born for this year;

    Kibibi (f) 6-3-'08 R'dam (Tom + Kamina)
    Kitabu (m) 16-3-'08 Stuttgart (Xano + Epena)
    Hazina (f) 2-6-'08 Marwell (Kiburi + Zukisa)
    .... 18-9-'08 Antwerpen (Bondo + Yenthe)
    .... 21-9-'08 Dvur Kralove (Ahadi + Etana)

    On the sign in the Okapi house at Marwell it says that Isiro is the sire, not Kiburi (unless I am going mad!)

    According the Studbook, it is Kiburi.

    Kiburi is also the father of Zukisa's second child, Shomari.
