    Very nice. I had no idea the population inside Laguna Atascosa was that low. No wonder I did not see any on my visit last November.

    A new public-private partnership has been set up with the aim of creating a new population of ocelots in Texas, around 75 miles west of the current population.

    The plan is for these ocelots to be bred in captivity and reintroduced to the wild, possibly using genetic material taken from wild ocelots in northern Mexico.
