I know of some US zoos that post their masterplans online. Are there others out there? Woodland Park Zoo Seneca Park Zoo Chattanooga Zoo Potawatomi Zoo John Ball Zoo Henry Vilas Zoo Salisbury Zoo Brandywine Zoo Chaffee Zoo Tulsa Zoo Topeka Zoo Memphis Zoo Nashville Zoo
A sort of masterplan of Emmen Zoo. This zoo is planning to move from the centre of the town to the edge were they already have a little expansion. Dierenpark Emmen - Verbouwingswerkzaamheden (only in Dutch I'm afraid, but there are some pictures) The masterplan of Birdpark Avifauna (PDF-file in Dutch) http://www.avifauna.nl/_upload/overig/masterplan.pdf

@okapikpr: awesome list of masterplans!! I'd seen some of them before, but it's always great to view maps of future developments. The Woodland Park Zoo's plan includes a multi-million dollar parking garage to alleviate the problem of a chronic lack of parking...but the garage was shot down by residents within the Seattle area. For now that idea is on the backburner.
Wow that's amazing. Only one I know of that isn't on their is Pocatello Zoo. They aren't AZA accredited but their master plan is really nice.

Hopely this will explain a bit: Wikimapia - Let's describe the whole world! On the right topcorner you see the present zoo in the centre of the town. On the left bottom you see the little expansion area. If you move your pointer over the large rectangular (called "geplande uitbreiding...") underneath the expansion area the new zoo area is lighted up in green. The zoo will leave the center of the town (2015?) NB: If you move you pointer over the little rectangular (called "olifanten") on the leftside of the expansion area you see the planned new elephants exhibit.
Here's a map. I added some translations. Notice the special field on the left. This is a behind-the-scenes area where the savannah animals can stay during the nights. Only if it is not to cold of course then they stay inside. The new elephant exhibit is 4 times the present one.
Some maps, notice the scale on the bottom. The present zoo in the centre of the town: The little expansion: The new zoo: Btw: Nigel. "Ich sprechen nein Dutch" is German, not Dutch.. The Dutch translation of your words is "Ik spreek geen Nederlands".
My mistake Sorry , my geographical brain was obviously taking a nap . I was getting mixed up with a city in Germany . I concede that Emmen is in Netherlands .
