A few snippets of news; -Rajang, a hybrid male from Colchester Zoo has passed away at the age of 50. At the time of his death, he was the oldest male Orangutan in Europe. They plan to re-name the enclosure in honour of him. This leaves Colchester with 1:0 Bornean Orang-utan. -Zoo de Bassin d'Arcachon is constructing a new walled exhibit for their 1:2 Bornean Orang-utan, after their current outdoor enclosure (a large island) was hardly used by the Orang-utans.
Ito and Kesatu, Bornean Orang-utans from Hai Park Zoo have gone to the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, who are a new holder. Jerusalem Biblical Zoo will receive 2 females in the Spring, for each male. This leaves Hai Park Zoo with 1:0 hybrid and 0:1 Sumatran.

0:0:1 Sumatran Orang-utan born at Zoo de La Boissiere to 'Jaya' and 'Moni' on the 23rd of January. This the first surviving offspring of 'Jaya'.
Some problems occurred with the introduction, with Lea becoming increasingly aggressive to him and with an introduction to his mother (Sungai) again failing at the end of last year. The decision has been made to move Hujan to Monkey World on the 11th of March to be introduced to the 'Orangutan Nursery' they have.
0:0:1 Bornean Orang-utan born at Ouwehands Dierenpark on the 10th of March to 35 year old female 'Tjintah'. The father is 'Bako'. This is Tjintah's first baby since she last bred over 12 years ago.
Confirmed as a female and named 'Tahura' 'Benjamin', the breeding male Bornean Orang-utan at Kaliningrad Zoo passed away recently, following him having pneumonia. This leaves Kaliningrad with 2:1 (mother and sons).
Pairi Daiza - 8 month old Sumatran, Sungai, died on 18 July 2019 as a result of a congenital jaw deformity.
0:1 Sumatran Orang-utan born to 'Pini' at Zoo Leipzig, born on the 2nd of August. This is her 5th offspring.
1:0 Bornean Orang-utan named 'Cezar' transferred from Kaliningrad Zoo to Rostov-on-don Zoo. This is the first Orang-utan at Rostov since the last female Sumatran died in 2016. This also leaves Kaliningrad with 1:1 (mother and infant son), but are due to receive a male soon.
0:1 Sumatran Orang-utan from Dortmund Zoo, 20 year old female 'Djamuna', has moved to ZOOM Gelsenkirchen. 0:1 Sumatran Orang-utan has gone in the opposite direction, this being 36 year old female 'Mokko' who is the full-sibling of Dortmund's male 'Walter'.
