The Zoo is closed today (Monday Dec 7) due to high winds and flooding, according to social media posts by the Zoo.

Does anyone know which areas are flood prone? Maybe around the North American section?

The 3 minute video on the link below contains a wealth of information on Elephant Lands and showcases the 6-acre exhibit. Watching the video gives the viewer a decent overall impression of the complex and in terms of size the project is clearly one of the largest of its kind to be found at any North American zoo.

Congratulations to the Oregon Zoo for giving the species that put them in the record books a new state-of-the-art exhibit. I think this will become a example and set a record for asian elephants in a time when zoos all across the country are getting africans for their collections. Hopefully there will be the pitter patter of not-so-tiny feet in this exhibit in years to come.
