On 17 September 1997 the Kaiyukan Aquarium established in Tosashimizu (Pref. Kochi - 32°48'3.28 "N 132°57'51.62 "E ) the Osaka Institute of Marine Science and Research Marine Biology Research Center. A second hall was completed on September 02, 2009. In this second hall there is a huge water basin (31 m long, 19 m wide and 5 m deep) and a second smaller basin (8 m long, 8 m wide and 5 m deep).
