I'm on a trip to Isle of Wight zoo next week and gather that there are a lot of smaller collections that are worth a look.
Which ones would you recommend and why? Any that I can combine using public transport or even walking?

Having visited every IOW animal attraction I would say my two favourite zoos are amazon world (for the random rarities that seem to crop up!) and seaview wildlife park (essentially a bird park but good sized enclosures even if the species are quite common), the latter also breed flamingos as if they are rabbits!

In terms of combining, owl and monkey haven and the IOW butterfly park are practically next to each other. The good thing about IOW is that everything is within an hours drive of everything else!
