The zoo's first Giraffe is currently in transit from Wroclaw (a male Reticulated). The exhibit will open to the public from this weekend

The zoo will house a group of 0.3 Reticulated Giraffes - not male as previously stated. The female from Wroclaw (Subira) arrived this morning, earlier this week came another female (Naomi) from the Czech Republic (Brno or Dvur Kralove?). The third female will come from Germany shortly

Visited Overloon Yesterday, here are some things i saw
    - 5 capybara's were born yesterday, what i heard from the zookeepers is that the young were from two mothers.
    - baby Camel was born some time ago now
    - 0.1 Black Swan was transported to another zoo

Other then that i dont really know because i only had the time to visit for 30 minutes as i was the one transporting the swan :D:D

I would love to visit Zooparc Overloon. Alas, this is a very big no-no as on weekends this park remains without any decent public transport / transfer option. One can go walking from Boxmeer to Overloon though ...., which means you will spend a long time walking around (as well as seeing something of ...) the countryside before you even get to visiting the zoo! 10.4 kms is the minimum distance (a good 2,5 hour walk).

In an age of extreme need for sustainability and environmentally more friendly ways of human activity patterns and behaviours a real downer!

Overloon is really worth it at least that is my opinion after visiting for 30 minutes, the park isn't the largest park around, i think you can spend up to 3-4 hours there, so then i dont know if it is really worth it for you :(

I think Vierlingsbeek is the closer station and you could take your bike with you in the train, or rent an Ov-fiets in Venray/Boxmeer...

Or you can ask a fellow-ZooChatter to pick you up at a railway-station and go together to Overloon.....

See discussion thread: @vogelcommando responded too.

NOTA BENE: I was in no way implying I was going to hijack your family affair!
