2,0 African buffalo and 2 yellow-cheeked gibbons have also arrived at the zoo recently, and the otters have been moved from the Oasis hall to the orangutan exhibit. A lot of wonderful new additions this year!
Several Cape Buffalo including F Gitte were due to leave Antwerp due to incompatability with an abusive breeding bull (M Husayn). It turned out these are different individuals. Mea maxima culpa.
Sea-horses born at Pairi Daiza : Belgique : une vingtaine d’hippocampes naissent dans un par animalier, un phénomène rare - France 3 Hauts-de-France
It hurts to see Pairi Daiza's current developments, about 5 years ago this was one of my favorite zoos, but in recent years they have started collecting species and sticking them in unsuitable enclosures (sometimes temporary, but often not), this is another example.... The fur seals have moved back to their old enclosure close to the aquarium and a forest species gets a huge open enclosure with a huge pond and hardly any cover and only a very small land part....
Plans have been unveiled for an 18 hectare expansion - featuring Polar Bears, Brown Bears, Wolves, Wapiti and Salmon as well as more visitor accommodation Pairi Daiza vraagt bouwvergunning aan | Scherpe Rugvinnen Will they ever stop building, or are they just going to keep going until they've crammed every known mammal species into there park??
They'll likely expand out of the right hand part of the park, the area I didn't visit due to lack of time when I went. I'm not sure @Nisha, but they sure do seem to be headed that way, or at least every ABC mammal.
They do not. It says at near the end that they have only requested planning permission, and no date is yet known. But that the area I correctly guessed they would build outwards from was phase 1...
No date yet - but they've applied for the Belgian equivalent of planning permission so that would indicate that it isn't too far away
