There is a hell of a lot going on construction wise at Pairi Daiza at the Moment and there have been many great photos from these construction activities posted on the facebook page of laafsekikers (in dutch):

    Laafsekikkers

Following an overview on the various construction areas / plans:

    Land of cold

The new world 'land of cold' is progressing very well with the amur tigers and reindeers already visible - even if most of the vegetation is still missing.

On laafsekikers is a link to a video (11 minutes long) showing the current construction status of 'land of cold'

Regarding new animlas in 2020 there have been 2 announcements this weekend in the 'brochure écoles 2020' from Pairi Daiza and the facebook page 'zoos de belgique' - they will have musk ox at the location where the reindeers used to live before and they will also have rockhopper penguins together with the king penguins.

New parking and breeding center for endangered birds

Both are projects already communicated and both seem to progress well

New asian world / area / hotel?

Pairi Daize seems to change the area between the huge asian elephant enclosure and the bison enclousre by building various temple buildings resembling the Bagan temples at Myanmar.

    [IMG] [IMG]

As you can see - the construction starts on the right part of the elephant enclosure and they build similar temple buildings a few hundred meters further down next to the Bison enclosure.

It is so far not clear whey they are doing so and what animals will be on display there.

Speculations are that they might build a new Asia themed hotel there and regarding animals they might either enhance the elephant enclosures (esepcially for the males), separate the elephants from the blackbuck and eld's deers and/or add new animals like Gaur or Indian Rhino...

    Southern Cape (Australia)

There is construction going on at the 'Southern Cape' world - all the ferns have been taken out and they seem to re-arrange this area a bit.

    Land of Origin (Africa)

There is also construction going on at the 'Land of Origin' - behind the white rhino and african elephant enclosures (behind the wall) there is a new building being built.

    Public announcement of mid-term development

On Thursday December 19th there will be a public presentation and hearing for the community of Brugelette about the plans of Pairi Daiza until 2025.

Known so far are the following elemnts:
    • They aim to spent roughly 300m€ over the next 5 years
    • The key new evelopment will be a new Tropical world incl. a huge Tropical dome
    • The hotel capacity shall be expanded to 2000 beds
    • They aim to built a big aquatice center (swimming pools) for their hotel guests so that they can open the park 365 days a year and cover bad weather
    • They want to built a conference center that could host events and would also attract business guests
    • They plan with 3 Million visitors per year and with a maximum daily capacity of 50.000 visitors
It is not clear if and how the potential new worlds 'Dessert' and 'South America' will be included.

Anyone know how old these three females are? What is the chance they can breed within this short time frame? (3 months)

I'm also suprised but so far I've not seen any Information neither in the press nor on any of the other French/Dutch Pairi Daiza forums…

So if anybody has other sources / more Information I'd be also interested.

I found the first piece of information about the public presentation yesterday - 2.5 minutes footage from a local TV station.

The focus of the presentation was about the new tropical world (only) - however there should be some space around to also potentially finalize the other two worlds previously indicated - 'Dessert' and 'South America'.

Now regarding the tropical world - key part of it will be a tropical dome of 5 hectars (in comparison the new dome at Beauval measures 1 hectar and Gondwanaland at Leipzig 2 hectars). Animals shown on pictures were jaguars, manatees, howler monkeys and crocodiles.

Beside that there was no new information provided - just some paintings of how the new 'Lagune' - the aquatic center - shall look like.

Construction for the new world shall start in January 2021.

Après la création d'un nouveau parking, le parc Pairi Daiza compte encore s'agrandir

Thank you! Was able to understand a bit of it, but wow thats a big plan for the tropical world. Curious if it will actually turn out like the way they planned.
