A pair of Arabian oryxes has arrived, and other females will come before the end of the year. Parco Valcorba is the first (and the only) italian zoo to participate to the EEP and to welcome this wonderful species . Great news!
A pair of gemsbok has arrived, they are in a new large exhibit in the African section of the zoo. So, the zoo at the moment keep 3 of the 4 species of oryx, and maybe in the future could welcome also the Beisa.
2.0 young saddle-billed storks arrived. Wonderful specimens of a species that is rare to see in Italy. They are kept in a totally new covered enclosure.
A male of North Chinese leopard arrived last winter, now the zoo has a wonderful young pair of this subspecies, and it is the only Italian zoo to host Chinese leopard.
A pair of Geoffroy's cat arrived (male from Lumigny and female from Kronberg). A new exhibit has been built for the species. Now, this is the only Italian zoo to keep the species and there will be other nice news...
1.0 Arabian oryx was born at the beginning of August. It is the first-ever birth of this species in Italy!
Wow this zoo seems to have a lot of uncommon species, might go take a look after the pandemic is over
Nice addition. The report on Facebook claims Chinese leopard from Hamburg Zoo (which only maintains North China leopard and not Amurs). Link: Facebook
I meant Amur leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis euptilura), not Amur leopard . Concerning leopards...we have been kept Chinese leopards since 2019.
