Parco Natura Viva: 3 new species, a couple of Barn Owls in an aviary in Europa area, 10 Red Flamingoes, placed in the exhibit with the Chilean Flamingoes and a couple of L'Hoest's monkey, Harry (born in Paris, been in Colechester as last zoo) and Kamili (born in Edinburgh), now placed in Sentieri d'Africa area, in the old Vervet exhibit
BIG NEWS: Masterplan 2017-2027 Summer 2019: new tropical house built where there was the older one (1978), it's going to host the same animals (Aldabra giant tortoises, birds, small mammals, insects, reptiles, fishes), but also Komodo Dragons and Giant Otters Future: - Conference Centre - Gorillas area - Camping in the African area (as Zoom Torino started doing this year) - New restaurant in the wolves area
I always wonder why Parco Natura Viva never invested in keeping Elephants. It belongs to the top 3 zoos and animal parks in Italy quality wise (and it is even probably the best), does not suffer from financial problems, has experienced staff and has enough space so the pachyderms would be in good hands.
I remember seeing a masterplan when I visited it years ago and there were many new exhibits coming in the future, elephants were part of the plan, koalas too, gorillas too etc Probably they are not going to open only 2 new areas for animals in the next 10 years, I'm pretty sure they revealed only the first 2 areas
Wait some days and you'll have all the pictures of the new greenhouse . The house is still closed to the public...but we are days before the opening
The House of Giants will open the 6th September Nagini, a Green Anaconda from London Zoo became the first giant inhabitant of the new Giants House, 3 Dward African Crocodiles followed, while hundreds of butterflies chrysalis and about 5.000 leaf-cutter ants arrived in July giants
