yeah, they have a great potential of having new species that were once held in brazilian zoos, and bring new species to brazil.
well, i hope they still can be able to bring elephants to the park, if they bring, probably will be the asian elephant or maybe the african elephant.
I have heard about the colobus monkeys. I think they're gonna transfer the ones they keep in the aquarium. No info about the nile crocs though...
About giraffes and elephants, I don't have further info. The truth is elephant transportation is incredibly expensive, so I'm not sure if they'll think about doing such acquisitions soon... Giraffes should have arrived until the inauguration though, as far as I know.
yes i heard about the colobus and the crocodile. the aquarium of são paulo has three colobus so I don't know if they are really going to transfer them or acquire new ones. the kangaroos, meerkats and lemurs I believe have already been transferred from there, because I went a few months ago and the enclosures had a smaller amount of animals than they used to have.
I believe they will have it, the only thing I have doubts about is where their enclosure will be, because they are very large animals that need a lot of space and there does not seem to be any enclosure with the necessary space for them
I higly suspect they have given up the elephants for now. Maybe in the future they build another enclosure to keep them, but who knows...
well, remember the play na diversao site that showed a selection of slides? so, one of photos shows animals that park should have like elephants, lions, crocs, giraffes, kangaroos, giant pandas. but if there aren't any, so sorry about that.
I know. I remember those photos. I just think those animals might take a little bit more to join the collection... Some they haven't even started to contact institutions to acquire, such as gorillas, for example.
Do you know where the giraffes are coming from? From the controversial import that was made by Bioparque Rio?
No, not those giraffes. Cotia park never had any relation to those imports, and afaik they're gonna obtain their individuals from European zoos.
I'd bet on Rothschild's giraffes, since there's a possibility for a conservation program made between them and Itatiba.
I think it won't be all finished, mainly because they acquired this land recently, they will probably expand the park after it opens as time goes on. but let's follow it, there's still three months until then
