I think this is the main problem of the park and not sure it will change soon !

I'm not sure it was an attack. The report I read said he was hit by a trunk, causing the keeper to fall and bang his head on a metal structure, which is what killed him. The elephant knocking him could have been aggressive, but also could have been playful or a number of other things (they were being fed/let out for the morning). Either way, a very sad event :(

Similar situation happened at Knoxville zoo, where a keeper was kicked and died from head injuries from hitting their head on a enclosure bar. The media will always call it an "attack".

I didn't mean to phrase it as an attack btw, or at least make it the elephant's "fault".

A female pygmy hippopotamus called Moyamba arrived at the park from Parc de Branfere in France because of breeding reasons.
Pygmy hippos haven't been very successful at breeding in Cabarceno, so I hope a new female spices things up! Apparently, Ume (The male currently living at the park), is very important when it comes to genetics.
She will be kept in the secondary exhibit right next to the main paddock.

Cabarceno is getting a complete redesign of their elephant barn! This is great news, I was surprised to see the existing barn attached to such an expansive exhibit and highly praised management system.

Wowww this is amazing! Seeing how many renovations on stables are being done these last two years in the park really makes me happy, many of the ungulates and the wallabies already have brand new indoor housing compared to the way worse ones not so long ago, and seeing the elephants follow up is genuinely amazing. I really hope the carnivores follow up next too!
I'm also very glad to see the elephant caretaker team will be trained even more, genuinely excited to see how the quality of life of these amazing animals evolves at the park!
