The collection has some new chicks this season - golden-collared macaws, chesnut-fronted macaws, one blue-crowned parakeet, turquoise-winged parrotlet. Red-spectacled amazon pair has chicks in fourth consecutive season, two female chicks grow under parents. One of their red-fronted macaws is incubating fertile eggs. Two pairs of Austral parakeets reared 10 chicks. The zoo (or better to say a private collection in garden of a family house) is trying to increase footfall, so they are enlarging children petting corner (pygmy goats, rabbits, some common Australian parrots). New larger aviaries for Austral parakeets and slender-billed parakeets are under construction. Next future plans are building for guest accomodation (small hotel) and a new section for cockatoos. The zoo had to be closed for 2 months in spring due to coronavirus, but thanks to exceptionally high attendance during summer, they have already covered all losses. They had 45.000 visitors last year in total.
They got a new species - a pair of Common Cobalt-winged parakeets (Brotogeris cyanoptera cyanoptera) from private breeder. Yellow-faced parrotlets (Forpus xanthops) have 3 chicks that have just left the nesting box. Red-spectacled amazon pair has reared 2 chicks. The zoo celebrated their 10th anniversary by opening of a new garden bar and toilets.
The zoo has 2 chicks of Jamaican yellow-billed amazon (Amazona collaria) in a nesting box under parents - the first breeding success of this species in Bartosovice. The breeding pair is on loan from Prague zoo. Source Other chicks bred this year - 4 Austral parakeets, white cockatoo, 4 Cuban amazons, red-spectacled amazon, yellow-collared macaw, 2 brown-throated parakeets, 3 black-headed caiques, 4 red-shouldered macaws, blue-winged macaws, chestnut-fronted macaws, spectacled parrotlets, vinaceous-breasted amazons, Panama amazons... Development of the areal goes only veeery slow. The planned cockatoo aviaries or guest accomodation is still just on paper. The children zoo is complete with red-necked wallaby, ouessant sheep, pygmy goats, new rabbits (local breeds: Moravia blue and Czech spot), guinea pigs and a porcupine.
