hey all check out the exciting media release on perth zoo's website about temara, a 14 year old female orang born in perth who next week will be flying back to sumatra for release into the wild!!! the program is to establish a new colony of orangs, mainly confiscated pets in the national park. the multi-agent program has the full support of the indonesian government and could represent, if it is successful, a big breakthrough for the conservation of this species.
Temara is doing really well - her PZ keeper, Kylie, has returned home and reports that she's taken to the jungle like...an orang to the jungle. Kylie's reports can be found here: News from Bukit Tigapuluh - Perth Zoo - Western Australia Cheers.
