Hello! I went to Minnesota for a conference and Washington to visit the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and visited the local zoos. Here are some pictures:

I appreciated the National Zoo's reptile, invertebrate, bird, and small mammal houses. Lots of zoos focus primarily on big mammals, but this one had a nice diversity of smaller critters, and non-mammals. It was quite a nice place to see wild birds as well. I managed to see a few cardinals (very rare here in Edmonton) and many Black-crowned Night Herons.

Nice photos Jessie! The takins at the Minnesota Zoo live in a half acre paddock that is spacious and perfect for the herd of 5-6. The youngster is still completely brown and hasn't turned that beautiful "golden" colour.
