In this video the lammergeiers appear to be pink. I emailed the zoo to ask about it but had no reply. Then I found this page. Apparently the birds bathe in iron oxide rich water and mud which gives them this colour. It has been observed in the wild and it is thought that it reduces parasites, improves vitamin intake and that iron oxide may also reduce harmful bacteria on the surface of eggs and nest of chicks to prevent deaths.
