I said to @TigerValley98 in a conversation-when will they realize their opinions are irrelevant?

Cover (old format) of one of their newest exhibits: The Islands. A very short but not so typical area for Crocodiles, leopards, Gibbons and more. I apologize to the the fans of the zoo if any info is incorrect of if anything is outdated.

Thanks for the nice video report.

One observation: Aldabran giant tortoise in S.E. Asian islands???
They are siblings and youngsters (from where did they come)?

One, thank you:) Two, you could argue that displaying Aldabra tortoises still fits with Islands name. It is obvious though that it's meant to represent an Asian theme.

Well, they do some nice things such as petitioning to close some horrifying roadside zoos, but most of the time, they go too extreme, so I dislike most things they do.

Pittsburgh is a good zoo, but I don’t agree with that touching the elephants thing, and if Pittsburgh plans to get back with the AZA, that would be great.

Currently, we are 5185 members of ZooChat. That would make about 5000 of us, much more than four.

I also disagree with the way they run the program, being on of two facilities not to have protected contact with them

Yeah, they are fine, but they were careless enough too lose accreditation for no protected contact... I mean, elephants aren’t pets, are they?

The zoo forfeited their accreditation. They did not lose it. They were not up for reaccreditation when they did so. They still had several years left. The AZA has tried to shut them out of Green SSPs, which is a dumb decision. I thought it is about conservation and not AZA petty politics.

For Asia I was kinda hoping for Burmese or something….

BTW: Where are their Galapagos giant tortoise located in the zoo?

They were originally in The Islands, but they have moved back to their old home in Africa Savanna. The Aldabra tortoises moved in last year. The zoo has been waiting for them to be large enough because they are younger.

The Islands is generic tropical island. Any species from an island setting works. Jungle Odyssey is the same, but with a generic jungle setting. This allows you to have species from any appropriate area. The Mountains will likely be the same. Compass Point will have animals from everywhere and multiple settings.
