Some new animals confirmed - giraffe (subspecies not mentioned), springbok, blue wildebeest, saltwater crocodile, African wild dog, cheetah and iguana (species not mentioned). The animals and more information come from the video below:
Also, here is the second trailer for Planet Zoo that was released at E3 today, including footage of chimpanzees and crocodiles. It's good to see that they have the defecation animation accurate for the hippos.
According to the website, purchasing a deluxe pack will get you the pygmy hippopotamus, Thomson's gazelle, and komodo dragon as well.
That is not gameplay footage by the looks of things and so wouldn't get your hopes up about animals defecating in the correct way. The impressive thing appears to be those that went to the developers got it confirmed that scenary items will be interactive. So the chimps climbing on the frames, means everyones climbing frames for chimps will be different. That is such an improvement over previous games.
This is a good thing for primate exhibit builders considering the primates can finally use platforms and climbing opportunities it looks like
Also if the footage of in the trailer is indicative of gameplay then you will have to consider proximity of the structure next to enclosure boundaries and what you make the boundaries out off as they may be able to climb out.
I have a feeling that this will be like a classic zoo tycoon game, with mostly ABC's and very little small animals.
You cannot sell an original game on small animals no one has heard of. Unless the game is a flop I expect a few expansion packs for this which will add more to it. Also there E3 presentation was short but they said it would be a modern zoo with conservations one of the key elemenets. It is also confirmed there will be tanks you can place for reptiles, so there will be maybe a limited number of smaller animals in game.
Slightly longer E3 presentation just came online and showcased more of the safari rides and the small enclosures for reptiles, also confirming the game will feature Lesser Antillean Iguana
