From my visit today the male pangolin was iincredibly active at about 11am, then was asleep but visible in his leaflined nest at about 3pm when I went for a second look.

The hyena was not out before lunch but was active at about 1.30pm and at about 4pm, when I went for a second look.

Just another pangolin timing update, on my second visit to the zoo today, he was asleep at 12.45 and then very active at about 3pm.

    Thanks for all the info!
If anything changes in regard to the bird flu restrictions, I'd be happy to learn about it.
Currently a bit bummed out I'll probably have to miss out on the Pel's fishing-owl and the horned screamer.

Pel's fishing owl is on display - I believe it is the cold weather that has kept more sensitive birds indoors rather than the risk of flu.

On a different note - does anyone know what (unsigned) skink species is in the steppe reptiles exhibit in the Cat House?

State veterinary administration has called off ban on keeping poultry, ducks and similar birds in outside enclosures since 3rd of March. Based on this, local zoos cancelled their bird flu measures. Among others, Decin reopened their bird house, Chomutov opened their walk-through waterfowl aviary and Prague returned their birds to their usual exhibits.

That's great to hear! So all birds should be visible in april, assuming the temperatures are gonna be high enough.

However, Zlin seem not to have caught on :D I was, of course, aware that the most delicate bird species kept in outdoor aviaries were routinely taken off-display during the winter season, but until I visited yesterday I didn't quite realise this actually meant "pretty much everything that isn't a ratite or bird of prey is taken offshow", and assumed this was due to bird flu regulations.

I managed to see a few things via binoculars and/or looking through windows with aviaries visible inside, but sadly the Spotted Wood Owls eluded me entirely :p

During the "main season start" celebration and announcing the name of the pangolin female, the director also mentioned two notable additions that should come this year.

In "2-3 weeks" a 2019-born female Tasmanian wombat will fly in from Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary to accompany Prague's resident male.

Zoo also plans to import a new group of Tasmanian devils - this time with permission to breed them

Regarding notable departures, elephant bull Max will be moving during spring to a bachelor group in an unspecified European zoo (Lodz is what springs to mind immediately, but there is obviously more suitable places and I am sure the reveal will happen soon-ish)

Any idea if Prague will recieve a new young(er) bull in exchange for being able to place Max elsewhere? Is Max the smaller or taller one of the young bulls?

Do Prague list departures from the collection by any chance?

    No.

You can find totals for all deaths and departures by species in annual reports, but they are just numbers, without further details.

Today, the female wombat named Winkleigh will arrive from Copenhagen zoo. She will spend 30 days in post-import quarantine.

And the zoo will hike entrance fees soon. Tickets for adult visitors will cost 330 koruna
(€14,10 or $15,50). If purchased online, you´ll pay only 300 koruna.

According to zootierliste, a lesser adjutant has arrived in Prague from Zlín.

Does anyone know if it's going to be on public display or is it going to be behind the scenes?

If I understand the note correctly, it's this year hatchling and Prague will attempt to raise it by a pair of marabou storks, so clearly not on-show.

There is unfortunately no public hyena feeding during month of May (just checked their site ).

They get their usual rations inside their house (not visible to visitors).
